‘Admin leave’

Anniston first-year football coach Dorsey put on leave just days after season-opening loss to Geraldine.

Anniston High School football coach Damien Dorsey confirmed Wednesday that has has been placed on administrative leave but declined to comment further.
Anniston athletics director Chris Rowe is coaching the team leading up to Friday’s game at Minor.
The news come amid social media reports that Dorsey been fired. Contacted for clarification via text, Dorsey said “admin leave.”
Coming off of last year’s Class 4A runner-up finish under now-Minor coach Rico Jackson, Anniston opened its season with a 54-22 loss at Geraldine. Quarterback Jamorris Young suffered a knee injury on the game’s first offensive snap and did not return to action.
Dorsey’s hiring was approved by the Anniston City Board of Education in April. The Anniston graduate and a former Anniston assistant coach landed the job in his third try.
Anniston superintendent Dr. D. Ray Hill and Anniston principal Phillip Posey did not immediately return messages.
