PLEASANT VALLEY — Braxton Salster accounted for 143 yards in total offense and three touchdowns, and Pleasant Valley topped old Calhoun County rival White Plains 26-7 on Friday.

The Class 2A No. 5 Raiders improved to 15-22 in the series against the 3A White Plains, which dates back to 1982. Pleasant Valley got its first win over White Plains since 2013, ending the Wildcats’ four-game winning streak in the series.

Salster, a four-star prospect who has committed to Virginia Tech, rushed 13 times for 74 yards and two touchdowns. He completed 10 of 14 passes for 69 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown pass to Nic Acker.

Acker finished with eight receptions for 69 yards, and Kayden Vick rushed for 55 yards on 14 carries.
Cooper Dougal threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Hudson Sparks.

Dexter Duncan, Jackson Acker and Salster led Pleasant Valley’s defense with seven tackles apiece. Jameson Humphrey had six tackles and an interception, and Asher Tillman had four tackles and returned one of his two interceptions for a touchdown.

White Plains quarterback Crew Martin rushed for 84 yards and completed 11 of 25 passes for 125 yards. Antonio Woods added 50 yards rushing.

OXFORD 56, GADSDEN CITY 28: Dupree led the way with 164 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Oxford rushed for 382 yards in a romp over rival Gadsden City. He also caught two passes for 23 yards and a touchdown.

English carried nine times for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Maddox Mims completed seven of 10 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns and rushed five times for 92 yards.

Oxford had more rushing yards than Gadsden City had total yards (335).

WELLBORN 53, WEAVER 0: Mareese Traylor rushed for 99 yards and three touchdowns, and Wellborn opened with a shutout victory for the first time since beating Anniston 10-0 in 1995. 

Zane HIll added 51 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and Kaden Horton rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Braden Horton rushed eight times for 70 yards and completed two of four passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Wellborn rushed for 364 of its 423 total yards.

Zane Hill led the Panthers’ defense with nine tackles, and interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Kaden Horton added six tackles, an interception and a pass breakup, and Braden Horton had five tackles and a PBU.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 49, ASD 0: Brodie Wilkerson accounted for 150 total yards and three touchdowns, and JCA won its first game under new head coach Rod Cates.

Cates was promoted after long-time coach Tommy Miller retired.

Wilkerson, the heir to Noah Lee at quarterback, passed for 86 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 64 yards and one score.

Dawson Wilkerson rushed for a game-high 92 yards and a touchdown, and Bryson Dowdey had 69 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Grant Daffron added 66 yards rushing.

NEW HOPE 23, OHATCHEE 16, OT: Ohatchee and New Hope have played memorable games, including Ohatchee’s 76-71 victory on a “Hail Mary” pass in 2024, and Friday’s rematch marked another chapter.

The Indians rallied from a 16-0 hole to force overtime before falling.

Jayden Siegler rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown, and Gus Hunter rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown. Carson Sanders hit on two of five passes for 30 yards.
