Weaver facts

Things to know about Weaver football heading into the 2026 season:

— Logan Brooks enters his first season as a head coach. Brooks comes to Weaver from Excel High School, where he served the 2025 season as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. He got his coaching start at Escambia Academy, where he coached 2017-19, while attending South Alabama. He coached under late National High School Football Hall of Fame coach Hugh Fountain, who went 271-150 with two state titles and 29 playoff appearances in 37 seasons at W.S. Neal, Charles Henderson and Escambia Academy.

— AHSAA realignment separated public and private schools for championship play and eliminated Class 7A, causing several schools to move down in classification. Weaver stayed in Class 3A and aligned in Region 4 with Ashville, Childersburg, Cleburne County, Handley, Munford, Talladega and White Plains.

— Key graduation losses from last year include the following All-Calhoun County players: RB Taylor Green. 

— Key returnees include the following All-Calhoun County players: senior OL/DL Caden Green, senior WR/QB/DB Junior Allen, senior WR/QB/RB Cisco Nira, sophomore OL/LB Malichi Flynn.

—  Other players to watch include  junior Connor Hyatt, who will take over at QB as Brooks looks to utilize Allen in other ways. Senior RB/LB A.J. Crooks, junior CB/WR Deontae Marks and junior HB/LB Timo Styles all figure big in Brooks’ plans.
