Alexandria facts

Things to know about Alexandria football heading into the 2026 season:

— Todd Ginn enters his ninth season as Alexandria’s head football coach. He’s 60-31 with two region titles and seven playoff appearances.

— AHSAA realignment separated public and private schools for championship play and eliminated Class 7A, causing several schools to move down in classification. Alexandria remains in Class 4A but aligns with several other historically successful programs in the new Region 6, including Anniston, Central-Clay, Jacksonville, Leeds, Lincoln, Moody and Sylacauga.

— Key graduation losses from last year include the following All-Calhoun County players: FB/TE Ryan Brown, OL Gavin Sweet, DL Kasen Gardner.

— Key returnees the following All-Calhoun County players: senior QB Cole Wheeler, senior RB J.J. Beason, junior WR M.J. Morris, senior LB Corey Owens, senior OL/DL Parker Nemeth, senior WR Evan White and junior DL/TE Royce Trantham.

— Alexandria also returns four out of five starting offensive linemen, including junior C Russell Tranthem and junior Knox Faulkner. Sophomore RB Jayden Nixon figures to play a bigger role in the offense this season.
