Ranburne’s stay at state softball tournament ends with loss to G.W. Long, but getting there and winning a game marks progress

OXFORD — One team wins a state championship each season, and every other team’s season ends in a tearful huddle with the coach.

For the first time in recent memory, Ranburne’s softball season ended in the state tournament.

G.W. Long eliminated the Bulldogs 7-3 in Thursday’s rain-delayed game at Choccoolocco Park, but Ranburne coach Cody Skinner had plenty to talk about in a long postgame huddle with his team.
