Fritts homers, and Hill has big day as area rivals White Plains, Cherokee County survive the day, head for another clash at East Regional. Jackson powers Oxford to victory. Munford sweeps, and Handley splits at Central Regional.

ALBERTVILLE — Carli Fritts’ three-run home run highlighted White Plains’ first day at the East Regional on Monday, and the Wildcats beat Westminster Christian 11-7 before falling to Plainview 10-0.
White Plains (29-22) will play Area 12 rival Cherokee County in Tuesday’s 9 a.m. elimination game at Sand Mountain Park. The Wildcats won two of three games against the Warriors in the area tournament.
Fritts’ homer came in the bottom of the first inning and put White Plains up 3-2.
Karli Otwell went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Carleigh-Anne Green went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI. Emma Tidwell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, Sara Kate Adams 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI and Jaylie Holt 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Fritts pitched a complete game, allowing 10 hits and seven earned runs but with 11 strikeouts.
Plainview pitcher Piper Anderson pitched a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts in White Plains’ winners’ bracket game.
CHEROKEE COUNTY : The Warriors (28-19) opened with a 9-1 loss to West Limestone then eliminated Hokes Bluff 6-1 and will play Area 12 rival White Plains in Tuesday’s 9 a.m. elimination game at Sand Mountain Park.
Emma Hill went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs against Hokes Bluff, and Emma Eberhhart went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Kaylee Lewis had a double and an RBI.
Hill got the win, allowing six hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk in seven innings.
Brooklynn Bruce singled for Cherokee County’s lone hit against West Limestone.

OXFORD: Jayla Jackson went 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and a run, and Oxford opened Class 6A East Regional play with an 8-7 victory over Mountain Brook on Monday at Sand Mountain Park.
The Yellow Jackets (19-16) advanced to play Homewood in the winners’ bracket.
Emma Tims-Becerra, Haleigh Pruitt and Charleigh Trotter each had a single and an RBI against Mountain Brook.
Mariana Becerra got the win, allowing eight hits, three earned runs and no walks with two strikeouts in four innings.

Central Regional
MUNFORD: The Lions swept through their opening day at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park, beating Montgomery Catholic 6-3 and Oak Grove 9-2 in the Class 4A bracket.
Munford (34-11) will play American Christian in Tuesday’s winners’ bracket final at 9 a.m.
Kastin Lathem homered with three RBIs against Montgomery Catholic. Chloe Pickette had a double, a run and an RBI, and Addyson Britt had a double and a run.
Saryn Goodson singled with two RBIs, and Jena Gaither went 2-for-3 with a run.
Madison Arnold allowed six hits, no runs and no walks with six strikeouts in five innings while earning the win.
Arnold pitched a complete game against Oak Grove, allowing eight hits, one earned run and no walks with one strikeout, and Britt homered twice with five RBIs.
Ashtyn Bishop went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Lathem had a single, a run and an RBI. Bayleigh Durham went 2-for-3 with a run.
HANDLEY: The Tigers (13-20) opened with a 13-3 loss to Prattville Christian but survived the day with a 17-5 victory over Pleasant Grove.
Handley will play Oak Grove in an elimination game Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Rayna Smith went 3-for-3 with a double, five RBIs and four runs against Pleasant Grove, and Breydan Watkins went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Lily Sledge went 1-for-2 with a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Makenzie McCain went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI.
Olivia Cobb went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Smith allowed four hits, no earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts in four innings.
Brynnley Lane went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs against Prattville Christian, and Claire Pike had a single and an RBI.
