A week after Westbrook Christian rode dominant pitching to victory, the Warriors flash explosive offense in sweep of Deshler. Alexandria falls.

RAINBOW CITY — Fifth-ranked Westbrook Christian got to the Class 4A quarterfinals by virtue of four combined runs and two shutouts against No. 2 Madison County.
The Warriors reached the semifinals with 19 combined runs and big innings.
Westbrook’s five-run seventh inning proved the difference in Game 2, and the Warriors swept visiting Deshler 10-8 and 9-4.
Westbrook (24-9) advanced to the Class 4A semifinals under first-year head coach Ricky Ray Clayton and will play at Central-Florence.
The Warriors tied Thursday’s Game 2 on Luke Thompson’s single to score Brady Carden in the sixth inning. Their five-run outburst featured Brady Ryan’s solo-run home run.
Carden went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, and Thompson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Brody Blevins went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs, and Wil Chadwick went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run.
Carden went 2-for-4 with a homer, a double and two RBIs in Game 1, and Ryan went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and an RBI. Emmett Daniel went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Brodie Johnson went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
ALEXANDRIA FALLS: The Valley Cubs fell to Central-Florence 10-2 and 5-2 in their Class 4A quarterfinal series.
Cole Wheeler and Weston Haynes each had a single and an RBI in Game 1, and Knox Faulkner went 2-for-3. Jeremiah Heathcock went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Game 2, and Sawyer Coggins went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Alexandria finished 27-12.
