Donoho girls advance in soccer playoffs. WP, Alexandria boys take top two spots a golf sectional, with Hurst and Stokes sharing medalist. Alexandria softball wins one-run game with Munford.

Soccer

DONOHO GIRLS 3, SUSAN MOORE 0: Brooke Vandiber scored two goals, and the Falcons advanced in the Class 1A-3A playoffs.

They will play host to Madison Academy on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Katelyn McMorris added a goal, and Donoho got an assist apiece from Isabella Romero and Lauren Wigley.

Golf

White Plains’ boys edged Alexandria by one stroke to win the Class 4A, Section 3 tournament at Silver Lakes, with White Plains’ Cam Hurst and Alexandria’s Jamarcus Stokes sharing medalist at even-par 72.

Both teams qualified for the North 3 substate tournament, which takes place Monday at Florence. Third-place Plainview and fourth-place Westbrook Christian also took team qualifying spots for substate.

White Plains shot 29 over as a team Tuesday, including Wyatt Cotney at 75, Ben Miller at 84 and Dison Durden at 86.

Alexandria’s John Carpenter shot 73, Brannen Parker 86 and Luke Ray 87.

Jackson Robbins paced Westbrook Christian at 79. Max Carr shot 81, Jaxon James 85 and Jackson Pontarelli 86.  

Softball

ALEXANDRIA 6, MUNFORD 5: Reece Carr went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Alexandria improved to 33-12.

Cali Hess went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Charlee Parris went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Jacee Brooks had a single and a run.

Carr pitched five innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs and three walks with five strikeouts. Khloe England pitched two scoreless innings with a strikeout and two walks.

Munford’s Brooklyn Pressley homered and finished with three RBIs, and Kastin Lathem had a single and an RBI. Jena Gaither singled and scored a run.

JACKSONVILLE 13, WEAVER 1: Ava Snead went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs, and Jacksonville improved to 10-16.

Sadie Pate-Whitfield went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Avery Allen homered with two RBIs. Raybon Pridgen went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Alyssa Barnes went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Chloe Lockett went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Ana Strain had a single, a run and an RBI.

Lockett pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts in five innings.

Weaver’s Promise McLean, Ariel Sargent and A Sargent had a single apiece. Ariel Sargent scored a run.

SPRING GARDEN 11, WELLBORN 10: Hayden Parris stole home in the bottom of the eighth inning, and Spring Garden ticked up to 10-19 on the season.

Olivia Messer’s RBI double earlier in the Spring Garden eighth tied the game.

Wellborn took a 10-9 lead when Braelyn Bean scored on a passed ball in the top of the eighth.

Parris went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Kylie Bates went 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs and an RBI.

Ellie Miller went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Maya Jennings went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Ava Boatner had a double and a run.

Wellborn’s Brylee Ward went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI, and Brylee Luker went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Raelyn Webb had a single, a run and an RBI, and Delilah Talley had a single and an RBI. Ryleigh Smith had a single and two runs, and Ansley Greene went 2-for-6.

WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 8, GUNTERSVILLE 5: Aleya Crossley went 1-for-5 with three RBIs and a run, and Westbrook Christian improved to 10-23. 

Audry Snead went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, and Brandi Stewart went 3-for-4 with three runs.

Reid Elam pitched a complete game, allowing six walks, five hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts. 

GLENCOE 4, CEDAR BLUFF 3: Evelyn Nowak went 3-for-4, including a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Glencoe upped to 14-16.

Riley Brothers scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.

Victoria Romano had a double and an RBI, and Kynsley Freeman had a single and a run. Katy Talbot hit a double.

Freeman got the win, pitching a perfect 1 1/3 innings of relief with one strikeout.
