Coleman homers and Sargent has four RBIs as Weaver tops Piedmont. Puckett helps to power Woodland past Wellborn.

Going around the horn on Friday’s area softball action:

WEAVER 10, PIEDMONT 6: Ashlyn Coleman went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, and Weaver improved to 13-14.

Ariel Sargent went 2-for-2 with a double, four RBIs and a run, and Caitlin Edmondson went 2-for-3  with a triple, two runs and an RBI.

Promise McLean went 2-for-4 with an RBI. She also got the win, allowing nine hits, five earned runs and one walk in seven innings.

WOODLAND 9, WELLBORN 5: Allie Puckett went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Woodland improved to 14-10-1.

Kinsley McDaniel had a single and two RBIs, and Alyssa Taylor went 1-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Lucy Phillips and Skylar Vann each had a single and a run. 

Wellborn’s Brylee Ward went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ryleigh Smith and Raelyn Webb each had an RBI.

PLEASANT VALLEY DROPS TWO: Playing at Plainview, the Raiders fell to Scottsboro 10-0 and Plainview 16-4. Bright spots for Pleasant Valley included a double and an RBI from Elise Wheeler against Plainview. Hanna Henry had a single and an RBI. Wheeler had the Raiders’ hit against Scottsboro, a single.
