OHATCHEE — Pleasant Valley’s baseball team celebrated its first playoff series victory since 2017 Thursday in a joyous yet chaotic gathering of freshly dyed blond hair, flying water bottles and tumping coolers.
With the Raiders’ turf field under construction, they celebrated like they’ve played so many games this season … home officially, but on someone else’s field.
Somehow, none of that seemed to matter.
“It feels so good,” newly blond pitcher Jackson Acker said. “Me and this team, we’ve been working, We said we’re going to come out here and get two wins, and that’s exactly what we did.”
Pleasant Valley beat Belgreen 11-2 and 6-2 on Ohatchee High School’s new turf field Thursday, securing the Raiders’ first playoff series victory in nine years. They will go on the road in the second round — because of course — to play the North Sand Mountain-Decatur Heritage winner.
