Spring roundup

Three Donoho girls reach finals at state tennis tournament. Alexandria, JCA, Oxford and Ohatchee among winners on a busy night for softball. Ingram has big day as Wellborn baseball rolls into playoffs.

Going cross court with tennis and around the horn on Tuesday’s area high school baseball and softball:  

Tennis

DONOHO AT STATE: Donoho’s girls finished tied with Providence Christian for sixth out of 19 teams in the Class 4A-5A state tournament at Mobile, posting 20 points.

St. James took state with 63 points, and Briarwood Christian had 62.

Three Donoho players reached final-round matches and finished as state runners up … Natalie Rodgers in No. 2 singles, Elizabeth Downey in No. 4 singles and Bentlee Pahman in No. 5 singles.

Softball

ALEXANDRIA 7, PLEASANT VALLEY 1: Charlee Parris went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and an RBI, and Alexandria improved to 29-10.

Boo Boo Bright went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Reece Carr had a double and an RBI, and Katelynn Robertson hit a double. Cali Hess singled and scored a run.

Robertson got the win, allowing four hits, one earned run and no walks in four innings. Carr pitched four innings, allowing no hits or runs with four strikeouts, and Khloe England pitched a perfect inning.

Pleasant Valley’s Hanna Henry singled and drove in a run. 

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 6, WELLBORN 5: Symone Estell had a triple and two RBIs, and JCA upped to 14-2 on the season.

Audrina Williams went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI. Mollie Mullinax went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Carlie Chesson went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Sophie Williams went 2-for-4 with a run, and Bryleigh Reid went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Taylor Cash hit a double.

Audrina Williams pitched four perfect innings with six strikeouts.

Wellborn’s Brylee Ward went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Raelyn Webb went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Cassidy Gray had a triple and two runs, and Brylee Luker had a double and an RBI.

OHATCHEE 11, GLENCOE 0: Makayla Brackett pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts, and Ohatchee improved to 27-9.

Reese Steward went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, Annie Cox went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Gracie Reed had a single and two RBIs.

Alanah Fitch went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Mollee Barnes went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Blaze Steward had a single and an RBI.

OXFORD 5, LINCOLN 4: Jayla Jackson went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run, and Oxford upped to 16-12. She also pitched a complete game, spreading out nine hits with five strikeouts.

Haleigh Pruitt had a double and two RBIs, and Jordyn Alexander had a single and two runs.

Lincoln’s Chandler Stephens had two RBIs and a run, and Shelby Williams went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kalia Fowles went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Cameron Pruitt and Aubrey Machen each went 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

HOKES BLUFF 12, SARDIS 3: Rylee Hill went 2-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and a run, and Hokes Bluff upped to 20-13.

Lacey Grace Hall went 4-for-5 with a triple, a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Alexis Colvard went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Addison Simmons went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.
Hall pitched a complete game, spreading out 10 hits, four walks with three strikeouts. 

ASHVILLE 13, MUNFORD 8: Ashville’s Ansley Brashier went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, six RBIs and two runs.

Karleigh Grier went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and three RBIs. Brooklynn Mikus went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three runs, and Analynn Williamson went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Kimber Layfield went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Munford (27-10) got two home runs from Kastin Lathem, who went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs. Ashtyn Bishop went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run.

Madison Arnold and Addyson Britt each had a double and a run.

RANBURNE 5, VICTORY CHRISTIAN 2: Ranburne’s Addison Gibbs went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Ranburne upped to 15-14.

She also allowed three hits, two earned runs and no walks with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Kasen Hallman had a single, a run and an RBI, and K.K. Rollins went 2-for-2 with two runs.

RANDOLPH COUNTY 20, B.B. COMER 5: Abi Waters went 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs, and Randolph County improved to 18-7.

Bryer Thompson went 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Hannah Parmer went 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs.

Lizzie Milam went 3-for-4. Khloe Yates had a single, two RBIs and a run, and Lydia Parmer went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Milam pitched all four innings, allowing five hits, four earned runs and one walk with five strikeouts.

WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 11, TALLADEGA 2: Alexis Crossley went 1-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a run, and Westbrook Christian (8-20) made it the consecutive victories.

Reid Elam went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and a run, and Audry Snead went 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs and an RBI.   

Parker Borders pitched all five innings, allowing two hits with six strikeouts. She also had a single, a run and an RBI.

Baseball

WELLBORN 17, VICTORY CHRISTIAN 3: Tanner Ingrm went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, five RBIs and three runs, and Wellborn improved to 14-14.

Jackson Clark went 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a run, and Sawyer Thomas went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs.

Zach Pressley went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Dalton Dillard went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

J.D. Talley went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Clark got the win, allowing three hits with four strikeouts in the innings. 

HELENA 6, OXFORD 4: Oxford’s Zakaree Newton went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Rocco Maniscalco went 1-for-3 with a double and a run. Bryson Bradford had a run and an RBI.

Oxford heads into the playoffs with a 24-11 record.
