Piedmont sweeps area series with Glencoe, and Hope Christian splits a doubleheader with Louisville (Ky.) DeSales.

Going around the horn on Wednesday’s area high school baseball:
PIEDMONT 3-9, GLENCOE 2-0: Piedmont swept an area doubleheader a day after clinching its 14th consecutive area title to reach 21-6 on the season.
Charlie Sparks allowed three hits and three walks but no earned runs with nine strikeouts in seven innings in the first game. Ethan Tidwell went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Alex Bass added an RBI.
Glencoe’s Cooper Gomez went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Aiden Johnson pitched six solid innings, allowing four hits, four walks and two earned runs with six strikeouts.
Carson Cleveland and Crawford Mallett combined to pitch a shutout in the second game. Cleveland got the win, allowing five hits and no walks with nine strikeouts in five innings. Mallett allowed one hit with four strikeouts in two innings of relief.
Cleveland also went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Cole Austin added two RBIs, and Ben Dempsey had a single and an RBI. Carson Sanders had a single and two runs.
Glencoe’s Braxton Fortenberry went 2-for-2.
HOPE CHRISTIAN 4-7, DESALES 14-5: Playing in the Spring Experience at Choccolocco Park, Hope split with visitors from Louisville, Ky., to reach 13-7 on the season.
Kingston Eagle went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run in the second game. Trevor Ryals went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Kainen Bozeman went 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Lawson Burns had a single, a run and an RBI. Easton Strickland had a triple and a run.
Bozeman got the win, allowing five walks but no hits with four strikeouts in four innings.
Aziah Amberson had a single and two RBIs in the first game, and Eagle added a single and an RBI. Brody Ogles had a double and a run.
CENTRAL-CARROLLTON 7, RANBURNE 3: Cason Jones had a single and two RBIs, but Ranburne dipped to 19-7-1. Drew Davenport added a single and a run.
