Anniston, Cleburne County sweep area doubleheaders. Piedmont splits with Glencoe, Alexandria splits with Cherokee County, and Jacksonville splits with Lincoln. Westbrook Christian boys, Munford boys, Saks boys PV boys and Ranburne girls victorious.

HANDLEY — Kyrie Lewis led the way with 23 points, and Anniston’s boys held off Handley 54-52 in overtime on Tuesday.

Lewis hit three 3-pointers, and the Bulldogs improved to 7-4.

Kaden Brown hit three 3-pointers while scoring 11 points, and Dakyus Baker added nine.

Elijah Stegall led Handley with 21 points, and Cordan Patterson added 14.

ALEXANDRIA 69, CHEROKEE COUNTY 35: Cole Wheeler hit three 3-pointers on the way to 15 points, and Alexandria won in area play while improving to 11-4 overall.

J.J. Beason’s 12 points included two 3-pointers. Brayden Thompson and Royce Trantham added nine points apiece.

Nolan Neyman led Cherokee County with 12 points. 

CLEBURNE COUNTY 66, WHITE PLAINS 50: Lyric Ware scored 18 points, including three 3-pointers, and Cleburne County (15-1) won in area play while beating White Plains for the third time this season.

The Tigers beat the Wildcats (12-7) in both area games and in Wednesday’s final of the Heflin Holiday Hoops Classic.

Cade Shubert added 17 points (two 3-pointers). Cavin Bates scored 13 and Matthew Wilson nine.

The Tigers also hit 16 of 20 free throws.

White Plains’ Bryson Cheatwood scored 14 points, including two 3-pointers, and Harmon Cobb added 12.

PIEDMONT 53, GLENCOE 48: Rollie Pinto hit three 3-pointers on the way to 18 points, and the Bulldogs (9-4) won in area play.

Taylon Swain added 13 points, and Eli Johnson added 11.

Glencoe’s Grant Smith hit two 3-pointers while scoring a game-high 21 points, and Bryce Borntrager added 11 points.

WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 85, OHATCHEE 26: Lane Morton turned in 19 points, six rebounds and two assists, and Westbrook improved to 13-4 overall, 3-1 area.

Titus Jones added 14 points, three steals, three assists and two rebounds.  Brady Carden contributed 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Case Burton had 11 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one block.

Maximus Jones chipped in eight points, six rebounds, six assists and one steal.

SAKS 45, WEAVER 43: Sean Mial’s three free throws late in the fourth quarter made the difference as Saks won in area play. He finished with 11 points, including two 3-pointers.

Jayden Culpepper led Saks with 12 points.

D.J. Marbury led Weaver with 11 points. Taylor Green added 10 and Phoxton Benjamin added nine with 11 rebounds.

PLEASANT VALLEY 62, GASTON 27: Braxton Salster led the way with 18 points, and Pleasant Valley improved to 8-6 overall, 2-2 area. Cooper Dougal contributed 11 points and four steals, and Jake Barnwell scored nine.

LINCOLN 80, JACKSONVILLE 77: Lincoln’s Brayden Collins erupted for 32 points, including two 3-pointers. 

Tallas Swain hit three 3-pointers while scoring 23 points. Ahmari Bell added 10 points and Xavier Ragland nine.

Ben Pridgen led Jacksonville with 30 points. He also added .

Kamouri Harmon scored 21 points, including two 3-pointers, and Calvan Hill’s 13 points included four 3-pointers.

MUNFORD 43, CENTRAL-CLAY 42 (OT): Marquell Johnson led the way with 14 points, and Munford improved to 12-3. Kaydeen Mosley added eight points.

J.D. Hall led Central-Clay with 16 points.

NORTH RIVER 60, HOPE CHRISTIAN 55: Hope lost in area play despite 15 points and eight rebounds from Carson Campbell. Kailub Sparks added 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals. Tavin Jackson added seven points and four rebounds. 

Girls

JACKSONVILLE 84, LINCOLN 49: Jayci Taylor and Neveah Nicholson usually lead Jacksonville’s girls (17-3) in scoring, but both had a hot hand Tuesday.

Taylor scored 30 of her 33 points in the first three quarters, and she added eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. She hit two 3-pointers.

Nicholson hit six 3-pointers on the way to 27 points.

Ontarriah Braxton added 11 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals. 

Aubrey Machen hit three 3-pointers while leading Lincoln with 18 points, and Lanah Robinson’s 17 points included two 3-pointers.

ANNISTON 53, HANDLEY 27: Summer Flentroy continued midseason surge, leading Anniston (11-5) with 19 points. She also had five steals, three assists and three rebounds.

Saniyah Spinks added 15 points and five rebounds. Liberty Lewis added 10 points, five steals, four assists and two rebounds.  

Yuori Lloyd had a team-high 14 rebounds to go with two points and two steals.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 37, WHITE PLAINS  30: Kyree Hilburn led Cleburne County with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Emma Williamson and Sharli Clouse added seven points apiece.

Brooksly Thielker led White Plains with 10 points.

GLENCOE 45, PIEDMONT 33: Glencoe’s Kinlee Montgomery hit two 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 23 points, and the Yellow Jackets won in area play. Nakia Bothwell led Piedmont with 14 points, and Amiyah Thomas added 10.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 67, ALEXANDRIA 44: Brooklyn Bruce hit five 3-pointers on the way to 19 points, and Cherokee County won in area play.

Ellisan Givens and Nevaeh Gaidurgis added 14 points apiece.

Charlee Parris led Alexandria with 17 points, and Kate Wheeler’s 11 points included two 3-pointers.

RANBURNE 59, HORSESHOE BEND 30: Tinley Phillips hit five 3-pointers on the way to 21 points, and Ranburne improved to 14-6 overall, 2-0 in area play.

Maranda Ralston added 13 points, including two 3-pointers, and Peyton Smith added eight points.
