Faith Christian track standout Jayden Smith doesn’t know the source of his favorite quote but has proved it true.

“The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible,” he cited.

Smith signed his letter of intent Wednesday to compete for the University of Montevallo. This after just one season of high school track at Faith Christian.

“I’m extremely excited to see Jayden have the opportunity to continue his track career at the next level,” Faith coach Doug Strautman said. “He’s really only scratching the surface of technique and skill development. With regular access to next-level coaching and facilities, I expect he will thrive.”

Smith contributed to Faith’s second state-runner up finish in as many years in outdoor track, and the Lions also took home a red map at the indoor championships.

Smith competed in the high jump, long jump, 400-meter dash and multiple relay teams. He won six combined state-meet medals at the AHSAA indoor championships. He holds the school record in high jump and was a member of the state champion 1A-3A 4×200 relay team.

“Jayden was an integral part of our team success in claiming the 1A-3A Indoor state and 1A outdoor state-runner up trophies,” Strautman said.
