Ohatchee’s Poe achieves 200th career victory, and top-ranked Pleasant Valley gets 40th win while advancing to winners’ bracket final in East Regioonal. Also, updates from Weaver, Glencoe, Ranburne and Lincoln.

ALBERTVILLE — Ohatchee’s Kendall Poe achieved a career milestone at the East Regional softball tournament Monday.

The Indians opened regional play with an 11-2 victory over Hanceville, giving Poe her 200th career victory.

“It always great to win ball games, but it’s even sweeter they have all been at Ohatchee,” Poe said. “I haven’t won a single one of those games though. The players have won those and I’m glad I just had the opportunity to be over in the dugout to watch it.

“I can’t wait for the next 100 on the Creekbank. I’ve been blessed to have some really great ball players who just make the coaches look good!”

AHSAA regional tournaments started Monday at four sites and will continue through Thursday. Most area teams are playing in the East Regional at Sand Mountain Park. Area teams aligned south play in the Central Regional at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park.

Ohatchee (28-10) advanced to the Class 3A winners’ bracket but later fell to Fyffe 6-2 to fall into the elimination bracket. The Indians will play Weaver winner Tuesday at 10:45 a.m.

Weaver opened with a 12-5 loss to Collinsville, and Glencoe lost to Locust Fork 9-7. Randolph County lost to Fyffe 21-16 then eliminated Hanceville 12-11.

Ohatchee’s standouts against Hanceville started with Makayla Brackett, who struck out 14 batters while allowing five hits in seven innings.

Reese Steward went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Savannah Reaves went 3-for-5 with a double and a run. Mollee Barnes went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Tabi Davidson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.

Gracie Reed went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, and Mackenzie Luna had two RBIs. Alanah Fitch went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Lexi Thomas hit a double.

Brackett went 2-for-2 with a double and a run and an RBI against Fyffe, and Reaves went 2-for-4.

RANDOLPH COUNTY STILL ALIVE: Hannah Parmer went 3-for-5 with an inside-the-park home run, a triple, eight RBIs and two runs, and Randolph County eliminated Hanceville 12-11 to survive the day. Parmer’s inside-the-park homer plated three runs, and her triple drove in two.

Bryer Thompson went 3-for-4 with five runs, and Lizzie Milam went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Gracie Huckeba had a single, a run and an RBI, and Gracie Robinson went 1-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

THe TIgers (19-12) had several offensive stars against Fyffe. Parmer went 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs, and Kinsley Weathers went 3-for-5 with two triples, three RBIs and a run.

Huckeba went 4-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Thompson went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.

Aniyah Lee had a single, a run and an RBI, and Khloe Yates had a single and an RBI. Milam went 1-for-4 with three runs, and Macie Smith went 2-for-4 with two runs.

WEAVER REBOUNDS: Promise McLean singled and drove in two runs, and Weaver eliminated Glencoe 4-3 during Monday’s action in the East Regional.

The victory kept the Bearcats alive to face Calhoun County rival Ohatchee in an elimination game Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. Weaver lost to Collinsville 12-5 in the first round.

Glencoe lost 9-7 to Locust Fork in the first round.,

Maddie Stanford went 2-for-3 against Glencoe, and Ali Anderson had a single and a run. Reyleigh Partner pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits with one strikeout and one walk.

Partner went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI against Collinsville, and Ashlyn Coleman went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Stanford scored two runs and drove one in, and Anna Shirvinski had an RBI.

Class 2A

PLEASANT VALLEY WINS TWO: Top-ranked Pleasant Valley beat North Sand Mountain 13-3 and West End-Walnut Grove 6-3 on Monday, advancing to the winners’ bracket final.

The Raiders also expanded their fastpitch-era single school record with their 40th victory. They stand at 40-14 headed into Tuesday’s action.

Pleasant Valley will play Pisgah Tuesday at 10:45 a.m., with the winner clinching a regional title and a state-tournament berth. The loser will fall into the elimination bracket.

Alexa Cranmer went 2-for-3 with a triple, four runs and two RBIs against Sand Mountain, and Lily Henry went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Haylie Lee had a double and an RBI, and Abby Evans went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Lee got the win, allowing eight hits with three strikeouts in six innings.

Lilly Robinson had a single and team-high two RBIs against West End, and Lee went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.

Elise Wheeler went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Ellie Patterson had a double and an RBI. Cailey Almaroad went 2-for-4 with a triple.

Lee got the win, allowing four hits and two strikeouts in seven innings.

RANBURNE SPLITS: Playing in the Central Regional at Montgomery, Ranburne opened with a 7-6 victory over Reeltown then fell to Isabella 7-5.

The Bulldogs (17-17) will play Loachapoka in an elimination game Tuesday at 10:45 a.m.

Ranburne built a 7-0 lead through the top of the third inning against Reeltown and held on. Aubie Rollins homered and had two RBIs, and Autumn Lovvorn went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. K.K. Rollins doubled and scored a run, and Peyton Smith hit a double. Rylie Duke had an RBI and a run.

Lovvorn went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs against Isabella. Smith and Karoline Meadows each had a single and an RBI. K.K. Rollins and Aubie Rollins each had a single and a run.

Class 5A

LINCOLN: Lincoln (27-24-1) fell into the elimination bracket then lost to Corner 9-7.

Against Northside, Shelby Williams went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Zoe Korrecket had a single and two RBIs, and Chandler Stephens had a triple and scored a run. 

Aubrey Machen went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a triple and two runs against Corner. Stephens went 2-for-6 with a double and two runs, and Williams went 2-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and a run.
