ALBERTVILLE — White Plains stands one victory away from repeating its East Regional titles.

The Wildcats beat North Jackson 9-2 and Corner 7-5 on Monday at Sand Mountain Park and will play Cherokee County in Tuesday’s 3:15 p.m. winners’ bracket final.

The winner will clinch its spot as the East Regional’s No. 1 state qualifier in Class 4A, and the loser will try to advance out of the elimination bracket.

White Plains (28-14) made its first state-tourney appearance since 2019 in 2023 after going 3-0 in the East Regional.

Carli Fritts starred against North Jackson on Monday, hitting two doubles and driving in four runs. Leighton Arnold homered with two RBIs and got the win, spreading out five hits with eight strikeouts 6 2/3 innings.

Callie Richardson went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Sara Kate Adams was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Arnold homered twice against Corner with six RBIs, including a grand slam in the fifth innings, and got the win, allowing four hits in three innings.

Fritts, Cassidy Arnold and Kylee Prevencio each had a double, and Addi Bradley had a single with an RBI.

CHEROKEE COUNTY: The Warriors (34-9) beat Cordova 5-0 and Madison County 3-2 to reach the winners’ bracket final against White Plains.

Emma Hill got the win against Cordova, striking out 10 batters and allowing now hits through four innings. The Warriors held Cordova to one hit overall.

Grayson Tucker had a single and two RBIs, and Bristol Bass went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Abby Lea was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.

Against Madison County, Hill was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Bass had a single and RBI.

Hill pitched a complete game, striking out five batters and spreading out six hits over seven innings.

Class 6A

OXFORD: The Yellow Jackets got out to a 6-0 lead on Mountain Brook then fought off a rally to advance, 6-5, then beat Minor 20-5 to reach the winners’ bracket final.

Oxford (22-81) will face area rival Pell City on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. The winner will carry the East Region’s top state qualifier spot for Class 6A..

Berkley Mooney got the win against Mountain Brook, allowing one hit with six strikeouts in five innings before leaving the action with what Oxford coach Wendy McKibbin called soreness. She also doubled twice and drove in two runs.

Jayla Jackson relieved Mooney in the circle but also went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs.

Chloe Hulsey had a single and RBI.

Kaelyn Crossley and Madison Murphy homered against Minor. Crossley went 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Murphy was 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs.

Reagan Sanders was 2-for-2 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Emma Tims-Becerra, Ashlyn Burns and Jayla Jackson each had a hit and an RBI.

Crossley got the win, striking out seven batters and spreading out seven hits over four innings.

HANDLEY: Playing in the Central Regional at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park, the Tigers (24-8) fell into the elimination bracket with a 5-4 loss to American Christian but rebounded with a 16-1 rout of Dallas County.

Handley survived the day and will play the Prattville Christian-Bibb County loser Tuesday at 9 a.m.

American Christian rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 5-2 lead and fought off Handley’s two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.

Against Dallas County, Mariana Whaley pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in five innings. She also singled and scored a run.

Ella Hopper doubled and finished with four RBIs, and Kamlyn Holloway had three RBIs and scored two runs without a hit. Tayi Goss and Tenley Benefield had an RBI apiece.
