Alexandria’s boys eke out third straight title in battle with Weaver. Weaver’s girls dominant in first-ever county girls’ tourney.

WHITE PLAINS — Alexandria’s boys made it three straight Calhoun County wrestling titles by the slimmest of margins Wednesday, and Weaver’s girls made history with a dominant performance to become the county’s first girls’ wrestling champions. This story will be updated shortly. Below are updates from the date, results from boys’ and girls’ finals and team scores.

Tournament updates

–Boys headed into championship semifinals and consolations, with Weaver leading defending champions Alexandria 47-46. Girls are down to finals and console finals, with Weaver leading Piedmont 80-42.

–Girls on pause as boys work through consos and championship semifinals. Alexandria has pushed ahead of Weaver 78.5-75.

–Back-and-forth battle as boys work through consos and championship semis. Weaver now leads 87-78.5 after eighth-grader Gabriel Snyder (134) comes up with a big win in the semis.

–Big surge for Alexandria boys, now leading Weaver 118.5-87. Alexandria semifinal victors include Corey Owens (140), Kaden Deline (146) and Tristan Page (152).

–Here comes Weaver again, now down 118.5-117 after semifinal wins for Dashawn Barnes (152), Caden Thornton (159).

–Weaver boys now up 131-121.5 on Alexandria. Christopher Thornton (167) reaches the finals with a pin of Oxford’s Jeremiah Edwards.

–Make is Alexandria 133.5, Weaver 131. Still working through consos and championship semifinals. Girls are paused as boys work their way to finals.

–Speaking of the girls, Weaver leads Piedmont 80-42, and Weaver has Ariel Sargent (102), Kynlee Fulmer (109), Jaylee Carter (116), Ali Anderson (122), Mariah Johannson (128), Kallie Mayfield (134), Lena Johannson (140), Jaylyn Medley (154), and Baleigh Brown (187) in finals.

–Girls’ team scores headed into finals: Weaver 80, Piedmont 42, White Plains 23, Oxford 20, Saks 20, Wellborn 10, Alexandria 0, Ohatchee 0, Pleasant Valley 0.

–Alexandria boys now lead Weaver 145.5-131 after Damarkus Williams (192) gets through to finals.

–Weaver’s Brandon Jolliff and Alexandria’s Dean Boxley through to the 217 final. Alexandria leads 145.4-144.

–With all boys championship finals set, here are your team scores: Alexandria 145.5, Weaver 144, Piedmont 92, Oxford 67, White Plains 53.5, Wellborn 49, Pleasant Valley 47, Saks 40, Ohatchee 32.
