ALEXANDRIA — A night after putting up 92 points in an overtime victory at Talladega, Alexandria’s boys put up 82 against Glencoe on Tuesday.

It wasn’t enough.

Aiden Cornutt poured in 39 points, including seven 3-pointers, and Glencoe gave head coach and Alexandria graduate Ryan Chambless a season split against his alma mater, 89-82, in Larry R. Ginn Gymnasium.

Alexandria won the first meeting at Glencoe, 81-60, on Nov. 30. The Valley Cubs beat Talladega 92-84 in overtime Monday.

Glencoe’s other top performers:

Jayden Patton: 27 points (five 3-pointers).
Garrett Morgan: 15 points.

GADSDEN CITY 62, JACKSONVILLE 46: Speaking of homecomings, first-year Gadsden City coach Ralpheal Graves came back to his native Calhoun County and got a victory to gain a season split with godson Devin Barksdale’s team.

Jacksonville won the first meeting, 51-48, on Dec. 4, at Gadsden City.
Graves is the Anniston High grad who played on the Bulldogs’ 2002 state title team, was an assistant coach on the 2009 state title team and coached Sacred Heart to four state titles.

Barksdale was a key performer on Jacksonville’s state title teams of 2022 and 2023.

Jacksonville’s top performers:

Barksdale: 23 points (two 3-pointers).
Aaron Nixon: six points.
Sean Herbert: six points.

JAX CHRISTIAN 79, VALLEY HEAD 67: Bryson Dowdey scored 34 points and grabbed six steals to lead Jax Christian. The Thunder’s other top performers:

Noah Lee: 23 points, 22 rebounds, four assists.
Jesse Gannaway: 19 points, 10 rebounds, six assists.

Girls

JAX CHRISTIAN 41, VALLEY HEAD 40: Addy Lee’s steal and outlet pass led to Abigaila McNeal’s go-ahead bucket with seven seconds left, and Valley Head missed a shot at the buzzer.

Jax Christian’s top performers:

Lee: 24 points (one 3-pointer), 12 rebounds, eight steals.
McNeal: eight points, five rebounds.
Katy Beth Hudson: six points, seven rebounds.

SOUTHSIDE 60, SARDIS 26: Madison Shaw led four Southside players in double figures with 16 points, and the Panthers improved to 9-2. Shaw also accounted for four assists.

Southside’s other top performers:

Grace Anne Rose: 11 points, six rebounds, five assists.
Bailey Houston: 11 points (one 3-pointer).
Jovi Marble: 11 points (two 3-pointers).
Laylah Davis: eight points.

GADSDEN CITY 28, JACKSONVILLE 26: Jacksonville’s top performers:

Halaina Lozano: 12 points (four 3-pointers).
Alexis Phillips: seven points (one 3-pointer), seven rebounds, three assists.
