Oxford sweeps Gadsden City in baseball, beats Lincoln in softball; Alexandria tops Munford, and Jacksonville rallies to beat ACA in baseball

GADSDEN — Jackson Crow and Roby Brooks combined to pitch a one-hitter in Game 1, and Oxford got home runs from Carter Johnson and Eli Bozeman while sweeping Gadsden City 7-0 and 11-4 on Friday in the Class 6A, Area 13 finales for both teams.

In Game 1, Crow allowed one hit with eight strikeouts in four innings, and Brooks allowed no hits with three strikeouts over three innings.

Johnson hit a two-run home run, and Sam Robertson had a single and two RBIs. Peyton Watts had a double and RBI, and Trace Adams drove in a run.

In Game 2, Bozeman had a double and home run with two RBIs, Johnson hit two doubles with two RBIs and Sam Robertson hit a two-run double en route to a three-RBI day.

Nick Richardson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Adams had a single and RBI.

On the mound, Hayden Gallahar pitched four innings, allowing one hit with six strikeouts and no walks.

Oxford (28-6) will end the regular season against American Christian on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Choccolocco Park.

ALEXANDRIA 6, MUNFORD 4: Samuel Henegar went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead Alexandria (25-5), which scored three runs each in the first and third innings and held off Munford.

Seth Johnson had a single and drove in a run, and Aiden Brunner had an RBI.

Starter Clay Bridges pitched five innings of one-hit ball with four strikeouts, and Ian Cartwright finished it by retiring the second batter he faced for the save.

Munford’s Jonathan Ponder went 3-for-4 with a run and RBI. Riley Brown and Mason Brewer each had a hit and RBI.

JACKSONVILLE 9, AMERICAN CHRISTIAN 6: Gavin Peeler hit two of Jacksonville’s six doubles and drove in a run.

Will Greenwood, Ryan Mitchell, Grant Patterson and Jim Ogle all had a double, and  Drake Loggins hit a triple. Mitchell and Drew Pridgen each had two RBIs. Ogle, Peeler, Loggins and Carmelo Canales each had one RBI.

Jacksonville rallied from a 6-2 deficit, scoring twice in the top of the sixth inning and five runs in the seventh. In the seventh, Mitchell hit a two-run double, Pridgen a two-run single and Canales an RBI single.

Maguire Mallett got the win in relief, coming on with two outs in the fifth inning and pitching a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Jacksonville will finish the regular season at Munford on Monday.

Softball

OXFORD 4, LINCOLN 2: Ashlyn Burns went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI to lead Oxford (17-6) at the plate, and Kaelyn Crossley allowed two hits with two strikeouts over five innings.

Oxford also got a double and RBI apiece from Emma Tims-Becerra and Kenlee Rodgers, and Crossley had an RBI, and Adajiah Wilson had a double and run.

Soccer

DONOHO 6, GLENCOE 2: Sam Johnson and Zach Carter scored two goals apiece for Donoho (11-3-1, 6-1 area). Drew Williamson and Jordan Cameron had a goal apiece. Williamson, Bruce Downey and Quinyon Williams had an assist apice.
