Tour organizers announce the most extensive schedule for the Calhoun County Golf Tour in 2021

A year after COVID-19 wreaked havoc on the Calhoun County Golf Tour schedule, the Tour has announced its most extensive schedule for the 2021 season.
The Tour’s 15th season is highlighted by a record nine points events with the addition of the revived Gadsden City Championship at Twin Bridges. There are six events in Calhoun County and three in Etowah County, two county tournaments and two city championships.
There is at least one event every month from March to September. The start of last season was disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but many of the tournaments were rescheduled in the late summer and early fall. Only one event was not played.
“We made it work in the COVID year,” Tour director Jeremy McGatha said. “I hope all goes well and we keep it on this traditional schedule, no shuffling and all goes as planned.”
The season begins with the Calhoun County Two-Man at Silver Lakes March 27-28. The newest event to the Tour opens the points race April 17-18.
“We are excited to be the leadoff event for the Calhoun County Golf Tour for 2021,” Twin Bridges GM Chet Hallman said. “We look forward to hosting our Gadsden City Championship on our newly renovated (TifEagle) greens.”
Organizers once again tried to maintain a routine of playing every other weekend. The only back-to-back stretch is the Silver Lakes Championship and Cane Creek Championship May 15-16 and 22-23.
“Everybody wants to go late, but we can’t pack everything into a few months,” McGatha said. “We’ve got to spread it out.”
The top 16 players in the Tour points standings advance to the Calhoun County Match Play Championship. The points champion will be declared Player of the Year.
