Pine Hill Member-Guest

Many players talk about brother-in-lawing when they play well together in a team event. Brennan Clay and Cal Lambert really did in winning the Pine Hill CC Member-Guest.

The true brothers-in-law (Cal married Brennan’s sister) shot 16-under-par 56 in the scamble format and won by four shots over Marcus Harrell and Peyton Bradley. Lambert brought a lot to the relationship – he made two long birdie putts and had a chip-in for eagle.

The other flight winners were Chris Hubbard and Jimbo Phillips (First Flight), Tim Steward and Jerry Kemp (Second Flight), Randall Doss and Tim Haynie (Third Flight).

Closest-to-the-pin prizes went to Robbie Hurst (No. 3), Steven Sikes (No. 4), Isabel Rogers (No. 14), Madilyn Turner (No. 16).

County Match Play Set

The field for the Calhoun County Match Play Championship is set and the revised bracket creates a couple interesting first-round matchups.

Several qualifiers are not able to participate for a variety of reasons and their spots have been taken by the next available players in the Calhoun County Golf Tour points standings. Remaining players were moved up the bracket and the alternates filled in the seedings behind them.

Player of the Year Gary Wigington remains the No. 1 seed and will play alternate Shawn Ledbetter in the opening round of the Oct. 3-4 event at Anniston Municipal GC. The other alternates in the field include Andrew Brooks, Caleb Bowen, Jonathan Pate and Matt Rogers.

The revised bracket has two intriguing matchups in the opening round: Buddy Moore Tournament partners Jeremy McGatha and Matt Rogers will go one-on-one as will White Plains High School golf teammates Gage Miller and Wesley Jenkins. The winners will meet in the second round.
