Bulldogs pull away from Geraldine after another slow start; Odam has big game, O. Foster continues with hot hand in postseason

PIEDMONT – Alex Odam scored 28 points and two other players scored in double figures as Piedmont pummeled Geraldine 68-47 in the Class 3A Northeast subregional Tuesday night.
 
The Bulldogs (24-4) got off to a slow start coach JoJo Odam had been fearful of heading into this stage of the post-season, but once they got cracking they had plenty to handle the situation. They led only 9-6 after the first quarter, but steadily pulled away each of the next three.
 
Omarion Foster had 12 points off the bench and Silas Thompson had 10. Trey McFarland and Jakari Foster had eight each.
 
Foster has been on a roll of late, by his own admission playing “pretty good.” He started the post-season by making the area all-tournament team and kept it going Tuesday nigh. He was 5-of-6 from the floor against Geraldine and hit his last four attempts; he is 11-of-17 in his last three games. He also grabbed four rebounds, dished five assists, had two steals and blocked two shots.

Odam was 8-of-23 from the floor, dished five assists and had six steals. Thompson had six rebounds.

The Bulldogs will play Hanceville in their Northeast Regional opener Feb. 15 at Jacksonville State. The winner will meet the Midfield-Plainview winner for the trip to the Final Four.
 
The Bulldogs have been to Elite 8 each of the last two years. They were last to the Final Four in 2015.
