Cole’s 36-hole total 136 was four better than first-round leader Chad Calvert. David Garrett was third (146).

During his four consecutive wins Cole has shot 44-under-par and won by a total margin of 27 shots. Calvert, the 2015 champion, has been the runner-up all four years.

Counting his four official wins on the Calhoun County Golf Tour, Cole has won five invitationals this season.

Cole started the day two shots off the lead and birdied his first three holes of the day to move out front. Calvert regained a one-shot lead at the turn with an eagle on No. 9.

Cole regained a share of the lead on 10 with a par to Calvert’s bogey. He took the lead with another par on 13, then pulled away on 14 with a birdie to Calvert’s double bogey.

There were seven total birdies in the final group, four on the first three holes and only two on the back nine.

“It was ugly,” Cole said. “All of us – me, David, Chad – none of us played well. It was kind of a struggle all day. None of us were making any putts. I made three starting the round, but it was just because I hit them in there a foot, two feet. You make those, but just don’t make a lot of putts.

“It wasn’t like any one person was playing great. I just kind of made fewer bogeys than everybody else I guess. Nobody made a lot of birdies.”

Mike Granato Sr. came from three shots back to win the first flight. He shot 2-over 73 Sunday and was even par on the back nine. He played his last 13 holes in 1-under-par.
