Two Chinese Exchange students scored goals for Donoho’s soccer team in a 9-1 rout of visiting Glencoe Friday night.

Junior Sailor Miao scored his first career goal as he came off the bench and knocked in his own rebound to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead. Alex Chen slapped in a second-half goal, prompting coach Matthew Wright to look down his bench and say, “Do we have any more Chinese players around here? This is their night.”

In addition to Miao’s goal, Grant Steed had three and Drew Williamson and Samuel Johnson had one each to fuel the 6-0 halftime lead.

Williamson, Chen and Nick Wright added second-half goals as the Falcons (1-1) pulled away.

“Grant was excellent and is maturing as a player,” Matthew Wright said. “His width is good and he was able to get behind the defense and get some goals

“Our goalie play was very good as Walker Bodiford and Reese McWhorter combined to do a great job. I also thought that we did an excellent job of moving the ball around.”

The Falcons will be at Sacred Heart on Monday evening.
