Sunny King Classic hits 40; with a month to go, field more than halfway filled; practice rounds begin June 18

It’s about a month before the 40th Sunny King Charity Classic gets underway and the field is just about halfway to capacity.

Because of where the Fourth of July weekend falls on the calendar, this year’s event will be played July 13-15 at Silver Lakes, Cider Ridge and Anniston Country Club. Entry fee is $325 per person, which includes golf, cart and social events. Entry forms can be found at the tournament website (www.kingclassic.com).

Each registered-and-paid player in this year’s tournament can play one practice round per course for a $25 cart fee beginning June 18. Some dates and times are excluded, so contact the courses for availability.

Ty Cole and Gary Wigington are the defending champions. Here were the other flight winners in 2017:

ACC PARENT-CHILD: Entries are now being accepted for the Anniston Country Club Parent-Child Tournament June 16-17. The best-ball event, which has gross and net divisions, is open to any parent-child combination regardless of ages with a maximum of three parent-child combinations. Entry fee is $100 per player and the field is limited to the first 40 paid teams. Contact the pro shop (237-8412) for more information.
