Piedmont sweeps Weaver, White Plains sweeps Cleburne County; Piedmont’s Foster blocks 16 shots in Bulldogs’ boys game, White Plains’ girls stage fourth-quarter rally

Piedmont 60, Weaver 57: T.J. Fairs scored 21 points and hit two free throws with 19.3 seconds left to give the Bulldogs (12-6) a four-point lead. Delo Foster converted a Weaver turnover into a layup with 47 seconds left to put Piedmont up 57-53, but he blocked 16 shots – 10 in the first quarter.

White Plains 80, Cleburne County 65: Drake Preston scored 21 points, Matthew Clay scored 16 and the Wildcats hit 28 of 33 free throws. Gavin Burrage was 7-for-8 from the line in the fourth quarter.

Girls Games
Piedmont 57, Weaver 52:
Anyone who questioned the fitness of the Lady Bulldogs’ No. 4 seed in the upcoming Calhoun County Tournament should have watched the first quarter. Piedmont opened a 22-6 lead and led by 20 early in the second quarter. Kayley Kirk led four Piedmont scorers in double figures with 17 points; she hit five 3-pointers.

White Plains 56, Cleburne County 51: Jordan Sabree scored six of her eight points in the fourth quarter and the Lady Wildcats outscored their visitors 22-5 to erase a 12-point deficit. Chasity Nelson and Rian Chandler had five points each during the winning rally.
