Poll makes big tourney games

One of Thursday night’s boys quarterfinal in the Calhoun County Tournament and one of Friday night’s semifinals will match up ranked teams after the statewide basketball poll was released Wednesday night.

The 4 p.m. Thursday boys quarterfinal will pit 4A No. 7 Anniston against 5A No. 10 Alexandria. The 5:30 p.m. Friday boys semifinal matches top-ranked 1A Sacred Heart and 4A No. 10 White Plains.

The Anniston girls, who’ll play White Plains in the 4 p.m. Friday semifinal, is ranked No. 8 in 4A.
