Oxford moved a step closer to clinching its area championship. The Yellow Jackets can lock up the No. 1 seed and hosting rights with a victory in its remaining home game with Southside. Shelby Wood had eight of her team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, including 3-for-3 at the line in OT. “The key was all 10 players showed up to play,” White Plains coach Joi Watts said.

The Lady Raiders opened an 18-point lead in the third quarter and held on through a furious Piedmont comeback that carried the teams into overtime. PV’s Mikala Simpson scored five of her team-high 18 points in overtime. Piedmont’s Breanna Brazier hit all four of her 3-pointers in the fourth quarter (three) and overtime. Kaitlyn Ridley scored 15 of her points in the second half and overtime. PV now needs to beat Glencoe to avoid its three-team area falling into a three-way tie.
