Calhoun County lands five players among finalists for Back and Lineman of the Year in their classifications; Piedmont has 3

Calhoun County has five players among the finalists for the back and lineman of the year in their respective classifications.

As expected, North finalists Piedmont and Ohatchee dominate the Class 3A candidates.

Piedmont quarterback Taylor Hayes and Ohatchee running back Austin Tucker are among the back finalists, along with Mobile Christian athlete Troy Young.

Piedmont teammates Logan Beadles (DL) and Mason Langley (OL) are among the lineman finalists, along with Montevallo linebacker Tyler Olds.

Oxford linebacker K.J. Britt is a Class 6A lineman finalist.

All 48 finalists are finalists for Mr. Football, which will be presented at the Alabama Sports Writer’s Association’s Player of the Year luncheon in Montgomery Jan. 18.
