Jacksonville sweeps White Plains in area match; Pleasant Valley, Faith Christian pick up two wins

JACKSONVILLE — Jacksonville defeated White Plains 3-0 on its Senior Night to remain unbeaten in its volleyball area Tuesday night.

The Lady Golden Eagles won 25-19, 25-13, 25-11. They already had wrapped up the No. 1 seed in their upcoming Class 4A Area 12 tournament.

Destani Alvarado had five kills and nine digs for White Plains. Landry Bussey scored five kills, two aces and three digs. Kyrie Burgess had 18 digs and one ace, while Isabella Pinto had 21 digs and two aces.

Nicole Frechette had 11 kills and 17 digs, while Zana Christjohn had 11 kills and Abby Kazanjian had 19 digs as the Lady Lions beat Glencoe 25-10, 25-21, and Weaver 25-17, 23-25, 15-12.

“I was on Nicole pretty hard after her last game against Boaz on Saturday,” Faith coach Bradley Dawson said. “She responded nicely today and was more efficient. We are really forcing on being efficient, not just swing hard all the time.”
