Excel Classic results

Here are the Sunday results and Monday’s schedule for the Excel Memorial Wood Bat Classic.

Host Excel Baseball has one team guaranteed to play for a championship and maybe a second.

Josh Beshears’ Excel Blue Sox will play CABA for the 16U title at 9 a.m. Tony Maniscalco’s Blue Sox could play for the 15U title at 11:30. The 18U title game is at 2 p.m.

All the championship games will be played on the Signature Field of Choccolocco Park.

Cleburne County’s Brock Swafford allowed one run in six innings in the Blue Sox’ 2-1 16U semifinals win over North Alabama Elite. They are undecided on Monday’s starter, but have three ready to go — Andrew Cronan (White Plains), Tate Adams (Oxford) and Landon Green (Helena).

Green has had five hits — including a double and triple — this weekend and earned the save in the semifinals. Dalton King (Pelham) has helped with three hits, a .500 on-base percentage and three stolen bases.

“I like our team,” Beshears said. “In this first weekend of the season these guys have really shown us that they play hard and bring a ton of energy to the park.”
