Saks, Donoho win matches

Saks wins easily in road matinee, Donoho avenges County Tournament loss

GLENCOE — Saks returned to the floor for the first time since falling in the Calhoun County Volleyball Tournament semifinals on Tuesday, returning a matinee engagement with Glencoe, and won easily in three sets 25-8, 25-8, 25-7.

“They were excited to be back,” Lady Wildcats coach Randy Law said. “It was good to be back.”

Jordan Briskey led the Lady Wildcats (37-5) with 10 kills. Baylee Snider had nine kills, Tayler Teague six, Mayia Northard five and Jaelyn Wilson had 28 assists.

Saks returns to action Thursday when it visits Donoho and also play Piedmont.

“I’m looking forward to Thursday,” Law said.

DONOHO 3, ALEXANDRIA 1

The Lady Falcons (28-7) bounced back from losing the first set 25-23 to beat the Valley Cubs 25-16, 25-23, 25-20 and avenge a three-set loss in the County Tournament second round.

Anna Marie Woodfin, the Lady Falcons’ pick on the all-tournament team announced after Monday’s championship match, had 17 digs and three aces.

Camille Fink had 10 kills, Madison Gaines had nine kills, Kayla Wallace had three aces, Peyton Suco had two blocks and Katie Brown had 24 assists.
