PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — Bad weather reduced Layne Dyar’s experience at TPC Sawgrass to 27 holes, but she broke even on one of the most famous holes in the world.

The White Plains senior shot 46 on the back nine of the Stadium Course Sunday and finished fourth in the SJGT event, but she parred the famous island green 17th.

It was playing 99 yards and she almost made the birdie.

“It was a great experience all around,” Dyar said. “The course was quite difficult, but I guess that’s why the pros play it!

“Seventeen is very intimidating just because it’s an island green and it’s ‘the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass,’ but it wasn’t hard. It was actually one of the easier holes of the day.”

While on the trip she got to see the picture of the road sign that will commemorate the Wildcats’ 2015 state championship and honors of the memory of teammate Keaten Beam. It made her smile.

“I love it,” she said.
