PLEASANT VALLEY — Pleasant Valley’s volleyball program has brought home AHSAA “Blue Map’ trophies the past three years, and four in a row is the goal.

Still, third-year head coach Jennifer Mann believes in celebrating the journey, so she had Walmart’s bakery make a “Sweet 16” cake Monday.

Then, the Raiders took their home court and earned it.

Ellie Patterson led the way with 16 kills, and Pleasant Valley downed Ranburne 25-10, 25-15, 25-13 in Monday’s subregional round, a new layer of the postseason in public Classes 1A-5A.
