SPRINGVILLE — Two numbers carried the night for Oxford on Friday … 57 and 100.

Maddox Mims, back from a concussion sustained at Clay-Chalkville, completed six of eight passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns Friday, and Oxford downed Springville 57-3 in Class 5A, Region 6 action.

The victory also marked the 100th of Oxford coach Sam Adams’ career. Now in his 13th season as a head coach, his sixth at Oxford, he stands 100-52.

Adams is 44-23 at Oxford.

“We appreciate the commitment coach has made in developing young people as winners on and off the field,” Oxford athletics director Larry Davidson said. “The lives he has touched goes way beyond any scoreboard. Thank you, coach!”

Oxford (5-2, 3-1 region) gained 328 total yards, 218 passing and 110 rushing, and held Springville to 29 total yards.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 49, HANDLEY 7: Jaylon Baker completed five of 10 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns, and the Tigers prevailed in a clash of ranked Class 3A, Region 4 powers to clinch the region title.

No. 8 Cleburne (6-0) upped to 5-0 in region play with region games against Munford and Weaver ahead and a non-region regular-season finale against Springville.

Alijah Ware rushed 15 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns, and Silas Hunt had nine carries for 54 yards and two touchdowns.

Lyric Ware had three catches for 43 Yards and a touchdown, and Cade Shubert caught a 65-yard touchdown pass.

The Tigers held Handley (5-1, 4-1) to 91 total yards.

WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 27, TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN 0: Brody Blevins completed 11 of 17 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 78 yards and a score, and Private Class A top-ranked Westbrook Christian improved to 7-0 overall, 4-0 Region 4.

Parker Sims caught a team-high four passes for 70 yards.

Sam Legg caught a touchdown pass and rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown.

Titus Jones led the defense with nine tackles (three for loss), and Jonathan Hersman added eight (two for loss).

Jones, Justus Jones, Carter Cothran and Maddax Mooney each had an interception.

Read Barber delivered touchbacks on all five of his kickoffs, hit all three extra points and made both field goal tries, from 34 and 50 yards. He also averaged 43.5 yards on four punts.

ALEXANDRIA 44, ANNISTON 22: J.J. Beason accounted for 216 total yards and five touchdowns, and Class 4A No. 2 Alexandria (7-0) improved to 5-0 in Region 6.

Beason caught nine passes for 163 yards and a touchdown, and he rushed 13 times for 53 Yards and four touchdowns. His touchdown runs covered one, eight, two and eight yards, and he had a two-point conversion run.

Quarterback Cole Wheeler completed 15 of 18 passes for 266 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown connection with Beason.

Wheeler also kicked four extra points.

M.J. Morris added a 25-yard touchdown run.

Anniston (0-7, 0-4) got 61 yards rushing and a touchdown from Jah-ray Gutierrez, and Jamorris Young completed nine of 19 passes for 103 Yards, including a 35-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Heard. Quimari Jones caught five passes for 67 yards.

Malachi Hall returned a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown. 

PIEDMONT 42, SAKS 0: Cole Austin completed all five of his passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns and added a 14-yard touchdown run, and Class 2A No. 5 Piedmont (7-1) improved to 5-0 in Region 6 play.

Austin threw touchdown passes of 12 yards to Eli Johnson and 39 yards to Chase Kirkpatrick.
Jaxson Howard rushed for 114 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown run.

Nathan Studdard returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown and had an interception to set up another touchdown. Aliandre Wright returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown.

Piedmont gained 431 total yards and held Saks to -17.

WELLBORN 50, WEST END-WALNUT GROVE 12: Mareese Traylor rushed for 152 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns, and Class 2A No. 7 Wellborn (8-0) improved to 5-0 in Region 6 play.

The Panthers have scored 44 or more points in all eight games and have scored 50 or more six times.

Braden Horton rushed 13 times for 99 and three touchdowns and threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Clark.

Thane Doland added 78 yards on nine rushes.

Wellborn gained 467 total yards, 464 on the ground, and had 20 first downs.

WHITE PLAINS 42, CHILDERSBURG 14: Crew Martin rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns, and White Plains (4-3) improved to 3-2 in Class 3A, Region 4.

The Wildcats ran their winning streak to four games, their longest winning streak since winning six in a row to start the 1994 season. White Plains made its only playoff appearance in 1994.

Martin had touchdown runs of six and 18 yards. He also completed four of five passes for 54 yards, with a 39-yard touchdown pass to Watson Ponder.

Antonio Woods rushed for 104 yards, including touchdown runs of 28 and three yards. Bryson Cheatwood added a 35-yard touchdown run.

RANBURNE 40, RANDOLPH COUNTY 7:  Aiden Whitman rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and Ranburne (5-2) improved to 3-2 in Class 2A, Region 4 play.

Jack Yearwood added 12 rushes for 63 Yards and a touchdown.

Cason Jones completed five of six passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, both to Asher Brown, who had three catches for 133 Yards.

Yearwood, Sylas Thomas, Levi Cole, Sawyer Freed and Andrew Runels each had six tackles, and Freed returned a fumble 50 yards for a touchdown. Runels had an interception and a fumble recovery, and Whitman recovered a fumble.

CENTRAL-CLAY 26, LINCOLN 6: No. 5 carried 26 times for 173 yards and two touchdowns, and Central-Clay (4-3) upped to 2-2 in Class 4A, Region 6.

N0. 2 rushed six times for 80 yards. No. 49 added a 35-yard touchdown run, and No. 9 added a touchdown run.

The Vols had 328 total yards and held Lincoln to 175.

HOKES BLUFF 29, VINEMONT 28: Dean Morgan completed six of nine passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns, and Hokes Bluff (3-4) improved to 3-2 in Class 3A, Region 6.

Morgan’s touchdown passes included a 14-yarder to Javin Norman with 4:56 to play to give the Eagles a 29-22 lead. Morgan and Norman also hooked up for a 37-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Jace Hanks rushed 12 times for 68 yards, with touchdown runs of 22 and 39 yards.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 51, ASD 34: Dawson Wilkerson carried 26 times for 243 Yards and four touchdowns, and JCA improved to 5-2. His touchdown runs covered nine, 22, 21 and 13 yards.

Brodie Wilkerson carried 10 times for 81 yards and had two tackles. He also threw touchdown passes of 46 yards and 38 yards to Bryson Dowdey.

T.J. Scott led the defense with nine tackles, and the Thunder capped the scoring with a safety.
