ANNISTON — Tanner Wells, Ty Cole and Taylor McCullum don’t exactly form a pop band, but they form their own version of 3T atop the Wilfred Galbraith Invitational leaderboard.

All three golfers emerged from Saturday’s second round as co-leaders at 1-under-par 139.

Cole shot the day’s low round at 3-under 67, and Wells chimed in at 68. McCullum backed up his first-round 69 with an even 70 on Saturday at Anniston County Club.

Andrew Brooks stands three strokes back in second place. Defending champion Jacob LeCroy, Gary Wigington and Kevin Daugherty are four strokes back.

Cole seeks his third Wilfred Galbraith title. Wells and McCullum each seek their first.

Rain fell both days of the tournament, softening and slowing greens. Cole, who won the 2026 Calhoun County Tour’s first two points events and leads the points standings, calls this weekend’s conditions at ACC as close to ideal as they get for him.

“I never play good here,” the Albertville resident said. “I can hit it good, but this is the best chance I’ve got, because these greens being slow is more like my home course.

“If I can keep it between the ditches tomorrow, we’ll see what happens.”

Wells had Saturday’s next-best round at 68, overcoming a triple bogey on No. 10 to finish 2 under par.

“I hit it in the water, then dropped, hit water again then got it up there about 15 foot and hit triple, thankfully,” he said.

Wells rebounded with a birdie on No. 11, parred all the way to a birdie on 17 then parred 18.

“I hit it good, played good all day and just that one triple, or it would’ve been a really good round,” he said.

McCullum shot Friday’s only under-par round at 69 and held a share of the lead after Saturday. He led after two rounds in 2024, but Harrison Hughston’s Sunday surge proved decisive.

McCullum hopes to finish strong Sunday.

“It would be nice to beat some of these guys,” he said. “There’s a lot of good players here. I have a chance. If I shoot a good round tomorrow, I think I could win.

‘Im going to channel my Ott Chandler to win. He’s won all of the tournaments, so I’m going to channel being like Ott. Maybe I’ll get over the top.”
