Baseball
PIEDMONT 13-15, OHATCHEE 2-1: Carson Cleveland went 3-for-4 with two doubles and the RBIs in Game 1, and Piedmont went on to sweep the area doubleheader and improve to 18-5.
Cole Austin went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run, and Ethan Tidwell contributed a double and an RBI.
Ben Dempsey had a single, a run and an RBI, and Alex Bass singled with an RBI.
Cleveland got the win, allowing six hits and four walks with six strikeouts in five innings.
Ohatchee got a double apic from Elijah Tuiolosega and Joshua Hulbert, and J.J. Green had a single and an RBI.
Charlie Sparks pitched a 3-hitter with eight strikeouts in the second game.
Austin went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Bass went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and a run. Judd Pope had a single, two RBIs and a run.
Jack Maye went 1-for-2, a run and an RBI, and Will Deerman had a single, a run and an RBI. Eli Johnson had a double and two runs.
CHEROKEE COUNTY 10, WHITE PLAINS 7: Nate Black went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Cherokee County picked up an area win while improving to 11-11.
Cayce Tittle went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Wyatt Baker went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs. James Hunter went 2-for-3 with a run.
White Plains’ Caden Foster went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Brock Ward went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Crew Martin went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
SPRING GARDEN 19, FAITH CHRISTIAN 1: Ben Baker went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, four runs and three RBIs, and Spring Garden improved to 9-10.
Zane Edwards went 3-for-3 with a homer, four RBIs and three runs.
Dawson Ellzey went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run, and Joel Hunter went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Hayes Guthrie went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, and Eli Bats went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Brady Ruark had a single, a run and an RBI, and Jake Marlow went 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
Faith’s Caden Martin went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Levi Wells went 2-for-3.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 5-14, GAYELSVILLE4-9: JCA upped to 3-2, completing an 8-inning area game from Tuesday and winning big in the nightcap.
The first game saw Grant Daffron go 1-for-4 with three RBIs, and Anthony Gooch went 2 -for-4 with a run. Bryson Dowdey spread out 10 hits and three walks with 12 strikeouts in eight innings for the win.
Dowdey went 2-for- with four RBIs and a run in the second game, and Skyler Crider went 1-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Daffron went 1-for-2 with three runs and an RBI and Jameson Holderread went 1-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs.
HANDLEY 8, DUBLIN JEROME 3: Handley’s Zae Dunson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Alex Busbin went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run. Cordan Patterson had a run and an RBI, and Luke Murr went 2-for-3.
Skylar Hester got the win, allowing four hits, three earned runs and six walks with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.
JACKSONVILLE 2-5, LINCOLN 9-2: John Ducar went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the second game, and the Golden Eagles (10-12) split with area fo Lincoln.
Jackson Askew went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Matthew Salmon went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
Salmon pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, one earned run and two walks with two strikeouts in seven innings.
Jacksonville’s Ducar had a single and two RBIs in the first game, and Nick Johnson went 2-for-4 with a run.
Lincoln’s Kade Korreckt went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run, and Christian Bean went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Charls Ramsey had a single, a run and an RBI. Mark Darby went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
PLEASANT VALLEY 15, SAND ROCK 2: Wesley Wheeler went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs, and Pleasant Valley upped to 1-5.
Landon Beason went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Cooper Dougal went 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and Jackson Acker had a single and two RBIs.
Acker got the win, spreading out six hits, two earned runs and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings.
WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 16, DESOTO CENTRAL 6: Brodie Johnson went 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs, and Westbrook reached 12-7 on the season.
Wil Chadwick also homered and doubled while going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Dalton Helms went 1-for-2 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs.
Emmett Daniel went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run. Bo Kilgo went 2-for-2 with the runs and on RBI, and Brody Blevins went 2-for-3 with three runs.
Softball
ALEXANDRIA 4, LINCOLN 1: Charlee Parris went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs, and Alexandria improved to 15-7.
Cali Hess had a double and an RBI, and Boo Boo Bright went 2-for-3 with a run. Ryan Lumpkin hit a double.
Reece Carr pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts.
Lincoln’s Aubrey Machen went 2-for-3 with a run.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 8, ANNISTON 4: Sophie Williams went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and JCA upped to 7-0.
Mollie Mullinax went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Addy Lee had a triple, a run and an RBI. Symone Estell went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Cali Sexton had a triple and two runs.
Anniston’s Alicia Berry went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run, and Kennidy Thomas went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.
MUNFORD 7, ASHVILLE 6: Munford scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to lead 7-5, and it stood up as the Lions upped to 20-6.
Addyson Britt homered while going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Kastin Lathem hit a two-run home run.
Ashtyn Bishop went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs, and Madison Arnold went 2-for-3 with a double and a run.
RANBURNE 15, FAITH CHRISTIAN 0: Shaylie Reaves, Blaklee Mitchell and Addison Gibbs combined to hold Faith to one hit, and the Bulldogs upped to 8-11.
Kasen Hallman homered with three RBIs, and Peyton Smith went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBIs. Rylann Graham went 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI.
Kamryn Jenkins went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Rylie Duke went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
WEAVER 17, WELLBORN 2: Heaven Bishop went 2-for-2 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs, and Weaver upped to 9-9.
Ashlyn Coleman went 1-for-3 with four RBIs, and Maddie Stanford went 3-for-3 with four runs and an RBI. Reyleigh Partner went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, and Caitlyn Edmondson went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.
Promise McLean went 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBIs.
Partner allowed three hits with three strikeouts in four innings.
Wellborn’s Asnley Greene had a single and an RBI, and Ryleigh Smith had a single and a run.
Golf
WHITE PLAINS GIRLS: Coming off of their victory in the Calhoun County Tournament, the Wildcats mad it five tournament victories this season, winning the Fort Payne Invitational on Thursday.
Led by Aubree Cobb, who finished third with an 8, Whit Plains shot 255, beating Fort Payne by 11 strokes. They were the top two tams in a nine-tam field.
Maylee Stewart finished fourth with an 85, and Cameron Mclroy checked in at 87.
