Jacksonville’s Salmon, Ducar combine for one-hitter, but Cherokee County wins behind Mayo’s four-hitter. Central-Clay and Cleburne County baseball, Munford softball victorious.

Going around the horn for Wednesday’s area high school baseball and softball action:
Baseball
CHEROKEE COUNTY 1, JACKSONVILLE 0: Cherokee County’s Cameron Mayo pitched a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts.
Jacksonville’s Matthew Salmon and John Ducar combined to pitch a one-hitter. Salmon worked three innings, allowing one hit, one walk and one unearned run with four strikeouts. Ducar struck out two batters over three perfect innings.
Nate Black had Cherokee County’s lone hit, a single, but J Bette… scored a run with the help of four Jacksonville errors. Jacksonville’s Luke Richardson went 2-for-3.
CLEBURNE COUNTY 13, WOODLAND 0: Cleburne County’s Brayden Maduro pitched a no-hitter, striking out seven batters with three walks in five innings. He also went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Cael Fulmer went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.
Easton Thompson had a double, an RBI and a run, and Luke Smith had a single and an RBI. Aiden Laminack went 2-for-3 with two runs.
CENTRAL-CLAY 2, VALLEY 1: Central-Clay’s Hudson Foster and Ryder Waldrep each went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Waldrep allowed two hits, one earned run and no walks with four strikeouts in six innings. Braden Sprayberry pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
Softball
MUNFORD 15, SYLACAUGA 1: Munford’s Kastin Lathem went 2-for-2 with a double, four RBIs and a run, and Bayleigh Durham went 1-for-1 with three RBIs and two runs.
Madison Arnold and Brooklyn Pressley each had two runs and two RBIs, and Addyson Britt went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.
Pressley struck out five batters in two innings of work, and Arnold struck out three batters in one inning.
