Weaver’s girls edge Lincoln in Wellborn’s Lady Panther Invitational. Alexandria, Cleburne County finish in top five.

WELLBORN — Defending Class 1A-5A state champion Weaver’s girls won three weight classes on the way to edging Lincoln in the 18-team Wellborn Lady Panther Invitational on Tuesday.
Weaver finished with 168.5 points to Lincoln’s 159.5. Alexandria took third place with 127.5.
Central (121.5) and Cleburne County (96.5) rounded out the top five.
Weaver’s Josie Gochenouer (109), Jaylee Carter (122) and Ashlyn Coleman (134) won their weight classes. Sarah Gokey (102) took second place.
Lincoln got first-place finishes from Nicole Andrews (140) and Jailah McGowan (237) and seconds from Bailey Lathem (128) and Alana Bragg (167).
Alexandria’s Elizabeth Hunter (116) won her weight class. Mia Arcos (167) and Ebony Hunter (237) finished third.
Cleburne County’s Falon Curvin (137) won her class, and Avalena Williamson (116) took second.Oxford’s Carleigh Arriaga (167) took first place, and Wellborn’s Bethany Fowler (140) took second.
