OXFORD — Oxford three-star point guard Jaylen Alexander consummated his commitment to play for Belmont University, signing Tuesday.

A signing ceremony will come “soon,” Oxford coach Joel Van Meter said.

Alexander chose Belmont over heavy interest from UAB, Lafayette, Kennesaw State and Auburn. 

Alexander has played multiple years on the NIKE Elite Youth Basketball League circuit with Georgia Stars and Team THAD.  He has helped the Jackets win four area championships and reach one regional final. 

Alexander projects to join the 2,000-point club at Oxford.
