Bent, not broken

Jax State celebrates sole possession of CUSA lead after a night of finding ways to render statistics irrelevant.

JACKSONVILLE — A game featuring two teams with 5-0 Conference USA records said Jax State faced a big moment in year three of FBS football Saturday.

Nearly every statistic from the Gamecocks’ battle for sole possession of the conference lead said Kennesaw State should’ve left AmFirst Stadium with the prize.

A stadium-record crowd of 24,166, Jax State’s bend-don’t-break defense, a halftime Hail Mary stole it from the Owls.

The most important numbers … Jax State 35, Kennesaw State 26, and the Gamecocks stand 6-0 in CUSA play with two conference games left.

Many more details, video of postgame interviews and an encouraging KSU statement on an injured player await EA+ subscribers. Coming soon: Brad Campbell’s photo gallery.
