ANNISTON — Jabari Williams had a night to remember, and Anniston has a quarterfinal shot in the AHSAA playoffs.

Williams rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns, and Anniston downed Madison Academy 44-12 in Friday’s Class 4A second-round playoff game at Lott-Mosby Stadium.

The fourth-ranked Bulldogs (12-0) will play their quarterfinal matchup at Deshler (11-1) on Nov. 21. No. 8 Deshler beat No. 6 Hamilton 31-30 in overtime on Friday.

Williams’ night included touchdown runs of 14, 77 and 10 yards.

Quarterback Damon Pope completed six of nine passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns … 45 yards and 22 yards to Kaleb Moore. Jamorris Young threw a 1–yard touchdown pass to Jakorie Carr.

Anniston gained 405 of its 548 total yards on the ground.

Charles Thomas and Kyree Lewis led Anniston’s defense with six tackles apiece. Thomas had a sack.

“I’m proud of the kids,” Anniston coach Rico Jackson said. “They represented us well. Kids were excited to play and played with intensity.”
