Faith Christian boys take second. Donoho’s Connell, Cherokee County’s Johnson, Munford’s Frank, Handley’s Askew among multiple-event winners. Weaver’s boys dominate hurdles.

Led by Brady Whitworth and the 4×100 relay team, Faith Christian’s boys tied Cherokee County’s girls for the highest team finish among area teams at the state track meets.
The Class 1A-3A meets concluded Saturday at Cullman, and the 4A-7A meets played out at Gulf Shores.
Faith’s boys finished second in Class 1A, finishing with 68 points. Winterboro won with 104.
Brady Whitworth won the long jump (20-11.50), finished second in the 400 dash (51.33) and took fourth in the 200 (23.14).
The 4×100 relay team (43.13) and 4×800 relay (9:20.47) took second.
Vinson Montgomery took fourth in the 400 (52.09) and fifth in the 100 (11.52). Jack Strautman took fifth in the pole vault (9-06) and sixth in the 100 (11.53).
Other highlights:
Class 1A
DONOHO: Estella Connell finished her accomplished high school career with state titles in the long jump (16-8.25) and triple jump (34-06). She took fifth in the high jump (4-06).
Hunter Hartwell finished third in the 1,600 (4:49.28), fourth in the 800 (2:08.50), fourth in the 3,200 (10:47.00).
WADLEY: A’Mya Brown took first in discus (109-08) and fourth in javelin (94-08). Celeste Angel was third in javelin (97-03). Frisco Robertson was third in the 200 (23.11).
Class 2A
PLEASANT VALLEY: Ella Parris was second in the 300 hurdles (49.11) and 800 run (2:25.54) and fourth in the 400 dash (1:01.81). Clark Hill took third in the pole vault (11-00).
Class 3A
WEAVER: Weaver’s boys had the second highest team finish among area teams, taking third with 55 points. Madison Academy won with 96, and W.S. Neal had 84.
The Bearcats dominated hurdles, including the all three medals in the 300 hurdles. KeShawn Allen won in 39.14, followed by Kaden Gooden in second (39.89) and Harper Williams in third (40.08). Allen also won the 110 hurdles (14.76), with Williams taking third (15.25) and D.J. Marbury finishing fifth (15.41).
Lorenzo Blake took bronze in the triple jump (44-6.75).
Jaylee Carter led Weaver’s girls with silver in the high jump (4-10).
OHATCHEE: Luke Vinson took bronze in discus (133-04). Colby Hester and Ethan Wiggins tied for fourth in pole vault (10-00).
Ellie Vice was fifth in discus (97-02).
RANDOLPH COUNTY: Mollie Mullinax was a state champion in the 100 hurdles (15.77), and Anna Grace Henderson was third (17.10). Mo Winston took bronze in the 200 dash (22.68).
PIEDMONT: Lexi Ray took silver in the pole vault (9-06). Claudia Dempsey took bronze in the 800 run (2;28.30) and finished sixth in the 00 dash (1:03.06).
SAKS: Terriuanna Huguley took third in the 200 dash (26.14), and the girls’ 4×100 relay finished third (51.57).
HOKES BLUFF: Conner Wellingham took second in the javelin (168-03).
Class 4A
ANNISTON: Anniston’s two-time defending state champion boys finished third with 54 points. Hamilton won with 94, and Brooks was second with 56.
The Bulldogs majored in relays, with state championships in the boys’ 4×400 (3:22.57) and girls’ 4×100 (49.03). The boys’ 4×100 (42.91) and girls’ 4×400 (4:09.65) took second, and the boys’ 4×800 relay (8:17.23) was third.
Keddrick Jordan had the top individual finish with third in the 400 dash (50.62).
HANDLEY: The Tigers’ boys were fourth with 47 points. Nemo Askew won the 110 hurdles in 14.66) and 300 hurdles (39.20). Elijah Stegall won the triple jump in 44-07.
The boys’ 4×400 relay team was second (3:26.21).
Takeira Tucker led the girls with bronze in the triple jump (34-02.5).
CHEROKEE COUNTY: Led by Mary Hayes Johnson, the girls finished second with 66 points. Bayside Academy had 108.
Johnson won the 200 dash (24.86) and 400 dash (56.58) and finished second in the 100 dash (12.23) and 100 hurdles (15.11). Shamiya McElrath finished second in the 400 (58.62).
The girls took third in the 4×100 (50.13) and 4×400 relays (4:12.88).
Alex Johnson led the boys, taking first in the 100 dash (10.73), 200 dash (21.68) and 400 dash (49.68). Daniel Burton took first in ambulatory discus (38-08) and shot put (14-04).
MUNFORD: Dakota Frank finished off a highly decorated high school cross country and track career with state titles in the 800 run (1:55.06), 1,600 run (4:18.56) and 3,200 run (9:33.69),
WHITE PLAINS: Distance runner Maddyn Conn took home two individual medals, finishing second in the 1,600 run (5:15.84) and third in the 3,200 run (11.49.73). She also helped the girls’ 4×800 relay team take silver (10.03.34).
JACKSONVILLE: Tyshaun Cameron finished third in the 300 hurdles (40.41).
TALLADEGA: The girls’ 4×100 relay team was second (49.79), and Ta’Zae Cunningham was third in the 300 hurdles (46.67). Alexus Taylor was third in the long jump (17-00.25).
Class 5A
ALEXANDRIA: Danashia Woods finished fifth in the discus (103-09), and Tyasha Hunt was sixth (100-10).
LINCOLN: Jalen Turner took third in the 400 dash (50.76).
SOUTHSIDE: Evan Christopher took home bronze in the 3,200 run (9:48.45).
CENTRAL-CLAY: Mia Lindsey won the 110 hurdles (15.48) and 300 hurdles (46.09). The girls’ 4×100 relay won (49.39).
Class 6A
OXFORD: Cristian Gibson was third in the 110 hurdles (14.48), and the 4×100 relay team won in 41.69.
