WHITE PLAINS — White Plains’ day in the Class 4A, Area 10 tournament involved a 23-run inning and a perfect game.

At day’s end, the Wildcats had punched their ticket to the area final.

White Plains beat Anniston 23-2 then Jacksonville 11-0 to advance to Tuesday’s area final against Jacksonville or Anniston.

The Wildcats (25-14) opened the day with a 23-run inning after Anniston scored twice in the top of the first. White Plains sent 28 batters to the plate in a surge that included all nine of its hits for the game, seven hit batters, six walks and a dropped third strike.

It was one of two White Plains at bats in a run-rule game that went two-and-a-half innings.

Sara Kate Adams went 2-for-2 with two doubles, three runs and four RBIs. Halie Smith hit a double with three RBIs, and Karli Otwell had a double and an RBI.

Against Jacksonville, Leighton Arnold pitched a perfect game with 11 strikeouts over five innings.

Callie Richardson went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, three runs and three RBIs. Carli Fritts was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Adams and Braeton Moran each had a double and two RBIs.

Smith added a double and RBI.

Class 2A, Area 9

PLEASANT VALLEY 15-15, WOODLAND 0-0: Pleasant Valley (17-17-1) made quick work of the Class 2A, Area 9 tournament, winning two games against Woodland in a combined seven innings.

The Raiders advanced to the East Regional at Albertville’s Sand Mountain Park. They will play an opponent to be determined May 8 at 9 a.m.

Woodland also advanced and will play May 8 at 9 a.m.

Haylie Lee pitched a three-hitter with one strikeout in Monday’s first game against Woodland and a two-hitter with two strikeouts in the second game.

Lily Henry went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBIs in the first game, and Madyson Comer homered with two RBIs.

Aubree Cromer singled with two RBIs, and Alexa Cranmer had a double, two runs and an RBI.

Gracee Ward went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs in the second game, and Madyson Cromer doubled with three RBIs.

Cailey Almaroad went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI, and Lilly Robinson doubled with an RBI. The Raiders got a single and RBI apiece from Cranmer, Aubree Cromer, Henry and Jordan Cheatwood. Cranmer, Aubree Cromer and Henry scored three runs apiece.

Class 5A, Area 12

ALEXANDRIA 15, CENTRAL-CLAY 0: Pressley Slaton pitched a one-hitter with four strikeouts in three innings, and Alexandria got home runs from Christian Hess and Kaden Pritchett while punching their ticket to Tuesday’s area final and next week’s East Regional.

Alexandria (28-12-1) will play the Central-Clay-Lincoln winner in Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. area final.

Against Central-Clay on Monday, the Valley Cubs did most of their damage with a nine-run second inning that featured Pitchett’s grand slam to make it 11-0.

Hess added the 12th run with an inside-the-park homer in Alexandria’s four-run third.

Allyssa Hunt went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and Charlee Parris had a double and three RBIs.

Slaton went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBIs.

Brenlee Sparks doubled with an RBI, and Clancy Bright had a single and RBI. Cali Hess was 2-for-2 with a double and a run.
