White Plains tops Wellborn. Munford walks it off against Jacksonville. Piedmont comes back to down Cherokee County. JCA tops Weaver. Central-Clay, Cleburne County victorious.

WHITE PLAINS — In a clash of playoff-bound teams, Braxton Curles, Braxxon Borrelli and Dalton Luker combined to pitch a one-hitter in White Plains’ 14-2 victory over Wellborn on Monday.

Curles got the win, working 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts. He allowed no hits and not runs. At the plate, he went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Luker, who pitched the final inning, went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and to RBIs.

Paul Laube went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Cooper Tinney and Coleman Ray each had a single and two RBIs.

Ian Douglas went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Aiden Kilgore had a single, an RBI and a run.

Zach Pressley had Wellborn’s lone hit and two RBIs.

White Plains (12-17) will open the Class 4A playoffs at Etowah on Thursday. Wellborn (7-17) opens a first-round 3A series at Plainview starting Friday.

MUNFORD 3, JACKSONVILLE 2: Munford walked it off on Lathan Stephens’ RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning as both teams tuned up for the playoffs. He was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Stephens also got the win, with four strikeouts in two innings of work. He allowed no hits or runs and one walk.

Alex Petty had a double, and David Pettus had an RBI.

Jacksonville led off with two runs on Drake Loggins’ sacrifice fly plus an error and Gavin Peeler’s RBI double in the top of the first. Munford scored a run apiece in the bottom of the first and second innings, setting the stage for Stephens’ game-winning hit.

Jacksonville’s Xaye Lemon went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run.

Both teams made the Class 4A playoffs. Jacksonville (17-13) will play host to North Jackson in a first-round series, and Munford (19-7) will play host to Geneva. Both series start Friday.

PIEDMONT 5, CHEROKEE COUNTY 3: Piedmont scored all five runs in its final two at bats, including three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to retake the lead.

Cole Wilson singled in the sixth, and Piedmont benefitted from three walks and two hit batsmen.

Wilson went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. He also struck out five batters and allowed one hit in three innings on the mound.

Pike had a single and an RBI, and Jacob McElroy drove in two runs.

Kale Austin got the win, and Brodie Homesley got the save.

Piedmont (20-10) will play host to Sylvania in a first-round playoff series starting Friday.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 5, WEAVER 4: Jesse Gannaway went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBIs as JCA finished the regular season with a victory over Weaver.

He also struck out five batters and allowed one hit and no earned runs in 2 1/3 innings on the mound.

Noah Lee pitched three innings, allowing one hit and one earned run with five strikeouts, and he went 1-for-3 with a double,

Travis Barnhill got the win, allowing no runs and one hit with three strikeouts in two innings. He also had an RBI.

Bryson Dowdey had a single and an RBI.

JCA will play its first-round Class 1A playoff series at Athens Bible starting Friday.

Weaver finished 5-12.

CENTRAL-CLAY 9, FAYETTEVILLE 5: Aden Young had a single and three RBIs, and Kalvin Simmons went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs as the Vols finished the regular season a 10-11.

J.T. Wilkerson went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Deshaun Gibbons was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Hollis Snider, one of five Central-Clay pitchers to see action, got the win with five strikeouts in three innings. He allowed two hits and one earned run.

Central-Clay will play a first-round Class 5A playoff series at Headland starting Friday.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 10, PLEASANT VALLEY 7: Asher Brown had a single and two RBIs, and Cleburne County prevailed in the season finale for both teams.

Kannon Robertson, Silas Altman and Jayson Deese each had a double and RBI. Nolen Wright and Jake Littleton each had a single and an RBI.

Robertson got the win in his final prep game, striking out 11 batters in seven innings. He allowed seven hits and two earned runs.

Pleasant Valley’s John Garrett Bryant had a triple and two RBIs, and Holt Bentley went 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs.

Will Underwood and Noah Johnson each had an RBI.

Cleburne County finished 15-6, and Pleasant Valley finished 13-10.
