Alexandria softball puts up 33 runs in two games at Albertville, ups to six consecutive wins. Pleasant Valley clinches right to host area tourney. In soccer, Jacksonville girls clinch area title.

ALBERTVILLE — Alexandria’s softball team, ranked No. 3 in Class 5A, made it six wins in a row Friday, beating East Limestone 15-0 and Sand Rock 18-3.

The Valley Cubs improved to 22-7-1. Including their run to the Calhoun County tournament championship, they’ve outscored their last six opponents 63-6.

Alexandria rolled up six extra-base hits in three innings against East Limestone. Charlee Parris went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and three RBIs. 

Allyssa Hunt went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Brenlee Sparks went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Kaden Pritchett went 2-for-2 with a triple, a run and two RBIs.

Cali Hess went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Jill Cockrell went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, and Baylee Elston had a single, a run and an RBI.

Khole England got the win, allowing two hits with one strikeout in 2 2/3 innings. 

Pressley Slaton homered with two RBIs against Sand Rock. She also pitched the final 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.

Cockrell had one of Alexandria’s four triples against Sand Rock, going 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs.

Clancy Bright had a triple and two RBIs, and Sparks had a triple and one RBI. Pritchett tripled and scored two runs.

Allyssa Hunt was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Christian Hess was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.

Reece Carr pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts.

PLEASANT VALLEY 6, WOODLAND 2: Madyson Cromer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Pleasant Valley (12-11) clinched the right to play host to the Class 2A, Area 9 tournament.

The Raiders are 4-0 in area play.

Gracee Ward had a double and an RBI.

Alexa Cranmer was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Lily Henry was 2-for-4 with two runs. She also pitched four innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs and one strikeout.

Woodland’s Railey Williams was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Soccer

JACKSONVILLE GIRLS 7, MUNFORD 0: Jacksonville High School clinched first place in Class 4A, Area 5, finishing 6-0 in area play. 

Jacksonville’s Emerson Weaver scored three goals. Willa Kate Walker added two, and Sarah Sloughfy and Lexi Page each had one. 

Adding assists were Emma Easterling, Page, Weaver, Sloughfy and Emma Easterling. Goalies Kelsie Sigler and Walker combined for the shutout.
