PLEASANT VALLEY – Pleasant Valley’s softball team has played much of its schedule against higher classified teams this season, and the record reflects that.

How will it look when the Raiders play the have-to games against Class 2A competition after so much ramping up for postseason?

Alexa Cranmer and Gracee Ward homered, and Pleasant Valley downed Ranburne 11-1 in Monday’s 2A, Area 9 play at home. The Raiders improved to 11-11 but 3-0 in area play.

Cranmer’s solo shot ended the game in the fifth inning, and Ward’s three-run shot in the first inning put the first runs on the board.

Pleasant Valley also got a double and two runs from Madyson Cromer, and Haylie Lee went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs.

Jordan Cheatwood had two singles and an RBI, and Aubree Cromer had a single and two RBIs.

Lee pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts over five innings.

PIEDMONT 25, SAKS 2: Jaycee Glover went 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs, and Piedmont (14-6) rolled to 4-0 in Class 3A, Area 10 play.

The Bulldogs pounded out 14 hits and scored 14 earned runs with 18 RBIs.

Accounting three RBIs apiece were Cacey Brothers (3-for-4), Carson Young (1-for-4, double), Ava Pope (2-for-2). Eliza Mathis went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Cayla Brothers went 2-for-3 with a double, four runs and one RBI. Skylea Kirk was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

WEAVER 12, WELLBORN 2: Kynlee Fulmer pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs as Weaver improved to 9-6 with a victory in 3A, Area 10 play.

Kaelyn Free went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and Alana Cooper went had a single and single and two RBIs.

Ella Mae Kines went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and one RBI, and Sydney Bitzer was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Peyton Marvasty also had an RBI.

MUNFORD 3, CLEBURNE COUNTY 2: Jena Gaither’s run-scoring grounder in the fifth inning stood up as the winning run, as Munford improved to 16-4-1.

Brooklyn Pressley homered and drove in two runs and pitched four hitless innings with six strikeouts and two walks.

Cleburne County’s Claire Humphries had a double and an RBI.

OHATCHEE 13, GLENCOE 7: Tabi Davidson went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three runs and three RBIs as Ohatchee improved to 20-5-1 with a victory in Class 3A, Area 11 play.

Mackenzie Luna was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs, and Brylie Myer had a double, a run and three RBIs.

Breanna Martin went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Ellie Carden had a single, a run and an RBI.

Ohatchee got triples from Alanah Fitch and Savannah Reaves and a double from Gracelynn Reed.

RANDOLPH COUTY 12, VALLEY 2: AutumnTaylor pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts as the Tigers improved to 12-5-1.

Talee Sims had a single and two RBIs, and Gracie Huckeba went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Lizzie Milam and Lexi Key each had a single and RBI, and Brantlee Wortham drove in a run.

Baseball

PIEDMONT 10-18, WELLBORN 0-0: Piedmont got plenty of offense in this 3A, Area 10 series, but pitching was the story as the Bulldogs improved to 19-10, 6-0.

Cole Austin pitched a no-hitter in Piedmont’s 18-0 victory. He struck out 10 batters and allowed one walk in six innings.

Brodie Homesley pitched a three-hitter in Piedmont’s 10-0 victory, striking out 11 batters with one walk in five innings.

As for offense, McClane Mohon went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs in the first game. Jonah Pike, Cole Wilson and Hayes Gunn each had a single and two RBIs.

Jacob McElroy was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Cole Austin had a single and scored three runs.

In the nightcap, Mohon went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs, and Kale Austin went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs.

Pike was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, and Wilson had a single with two RBIs.

Homesley had a double and scored a run.

OXFORD 9, MUNFORD 3: Carter Johnson homered, doubled and had three RBIs as Oxford improved to 21-8.

Rocco Maniscalco went 3-for-4 with a run and three RBIs, and Reed Maniscalco went 3-for-3 with two runs.

Bryson Bradford allowed two hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work.

JACKSONVILLE 10-11, ANNISTON 0-1: Jacksonville won its eighth consecutive game to improve to 17-11 overall, 6-0 in 4A, Area 9 play.

Xaye Lemon went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs in the opener, and Gavin Peeler was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Kingston Peeler was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Matthew Salmon had a single and RBI.

Ryan Mitchell and Maguire Mallett combined to hold Anniston to three hits in five innings. Mitchell had four strikeouts in three innings.

Jacksonville had six extra-base hits in the nightcap. Kingston Peeler had two triples, two runs and an RBI. Mitchell went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored three runs, and Darel Atkinson had a triple, a run and an RBI.

Salmon was 2-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Bradyn Loggins had a double, a run and an RBI.

Drake Loggins had a single and two RBIs.

Will Greenwood got the win, striking out five batters and allowing one hit in five innings. Matthew Parker allowed four hits and had three strikeouts in three innings.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 14, FAITH CHRISTIAN 4: Noah Lee went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and four RBIs as JCA won in 1A, Area 12 play.

Jesse Gannaway was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Bryson Dowdey was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Jameson Holderread had a single and two RBIs.

Travis Barnhill was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. He also got the win, allowing four hits with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Gannaway struck out the final batter in relief.

For Faith, Vinson Montgomery 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Eli Robinson had a single and RBI.

Soccer

FAITH CHRISTIAN BOYS, 7, WEAVER 2: Mason Blackstone scored four goals as Faith improved to 5-6-1, 4-4 area.

Cameron Rogers had two goals and an assist, and seventh-grader Colt Turley scored is second goal of the season.

Jack Strautman had two assists, and Joseph Carroll had one.

Orlando Mondragon scored both Weaver goals, and Jacob Wrobel had an assist.
