WHITE PLAINS — Class 4A second-ranked White Plains and No. 3 Jacksonville are headed for another showdown.

After splitting their regular-season games, both games won their Class 4A, Area 10 tournament openers Monday. Jacksonville beat Cleburne County 62-52, and White Plains eliminated Cherokee County 66-44.

White Plains will play host to Jacksonville on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at White Plains. Both teams clinched subregional berths. 

JACKSONVILLE 62, CLEBURNE COUNTY 52: Devin Barksdale rolled up 27 points with five rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block. He hit four 3-pointers.

Jacksonville’s other top performers:

Sean Herbert: eight points, four rebounds, two steals.
Ky’dric Fisher: eight points, five rebounds.

Cleburne County’s top performers: 

Cade Shubert: 29 points.
Grey Freeman: nine points.  

WHITE PLAINS 66, CHEROKEE COUNTY 44: Josh Wheeler led three White Plains players in double figures with 18 points, hitting two 3-pointers, and the Wildcats won big nearly two weeks after Cherokee County took them to overtime.

The Wildcats’ other top performers:

Paul Laube: 15 points (one 3-pointer).
Carter Johnson: 10 points.
Daniel Williams: nine points (one 3-pointer).

Cherokee County’s top performers:

Jayquan Diamond: 15 points.
Jacob Cornejo: 11 points.
Keyshawn Woods: nine points (one 3-pointer).

Class 4A, Area 8 boys

ANNISTON 59, TALLADEGA 30: Delroy Francis led the way with 20 points, and Anniston advanced to Wednesday’s 6 p.m. final against Handley. Host and top seed Handley beat Munford 58-43 on Monday. 

Anniston and Handley both secured berths in the subregional round.

Anniston’s other top performers:

Jacorey Lane: 15 points (one 3-pointer).
Devin Coleman: eight points (two 3-pointers).
Isaiah Allen: seven points.

Talladega’s top performers:

K.J. Jones: seven points.
Ronson Moten: six points (two 3-pointers).

Class 1A, Area 8 boys

FAITH CHRISTIAN 60, WADLEY 56: Fresh off of its victory at White Plains on Friday, Faith got 20 points (three 3-pointers) from Carson Harris to advance to the area final.

The second-seeded Lions will play top seed and host Winterboro on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Winterboro eliminated Donoho 76-56.

Faith and Winterboro also punched their tickets to the subregional round.

Faith’s other top performers:

Conner Richerzhagen: 13 points (three 3-pointers).
Joseph Carroll: 11 points (three 3-pointers).

Wadley’s top performers:

Frisco Robertson: 25 points (one 3-pointer).
Damarious Spraddling: 10 points (one 3-pointer).

Class 3A, Area 12 boys

GLENCOE 79, OHATCHEE 49: Aiden Cornutt led a hive of Yellow Jackets in double figures with 19 points (four 3-pointers), and they advanced to Wednesday’s 6 p.m. final against Westbrook Christian.

Westbrook Christian eliminated Hokes Bluff 68-51 on Monday. Westbrook and Glencoe both clinched subregional berths with their victories Monday.

Glencoe’s other top performers:

Garrett Morgan: 14 points (two 3-pointers).
Wade Segrest: 14 points (one 3-pointer).
Grant Smith: 13 points.
Jayden Patton 12 points (one 3-pointer).

Ohatchee’s top performers:

Jake Roberson: 14 points (one 3-pointer).
Alston Carroll: 11 points (one 3-pointer).
Colby Hester: nine points (one 3-pointer).
Hunter Brown: eight points. 

Class 5A, Area 12 boys

SOUTHSIDE 57, LINCOLN 49: Mason Stephens paired 13 points with 11 rebounds, and Southside advanced to Wednesday’s 7 p.m. area final against host Alexandria.

Alexandria, the top seed in a three-team area, and Southside will advance to subregional games.

Southside’s other top performers:

Cayden Reason: 10 points, 12 rebounds.
Silas Osborne: 11 points. 
Hayes Cosby: eight points.
Cayden McMichael: eight points.
Reid Robinson: six points.

Class 2A, Area 8 girls 

WOODLAND 28, PLEASANT VALLEY 20: Ashlynn Salster led Pleasant Valley with seven points, but Ranburne eliminated the Raiders and advanced to Wednesday’s 7 p.m. final against host Ranburne.

Ranburne, the top seed in a three-team area, and Woodland will also play in subregional games.
