WEAVER — Cole Wilson hit seven 3-pointers to account for his 21 points, and Piedmont rebounded from its Tuesday loss to Jacksonville in a big way Thursday, beating Weaver 89-51 in Class 3A, Area 11 play.

The Bulldogs hit 15 3-pointers overall and improved to 11-6 overall, 5-0 in area play.

Piedmont’s other top performers: 

—Taylon Swain: 19 points (two 3-pointers).
—Ishmael Bethel: 14 points (two 3-pointers).
—Colton Proctor: 13 points (three 3-pointers).

Weaver’s top performers:

—KeShawn Allen: 20 points (one 3-pointer).
—Harper Williams: 13 points.
—Gabe King: eight points (two 3-pointers).

FAITH CHRISTIAN 59, WINTERBORO 47: Connor Harris hit three 3-pointers en route to 20 points, and Faith avenged an earlier loss to Winterboro in Class 1A, Area 8 play.

Faith Christian’s other top performers:

—Conner Richerzhagen: 18 points (three 3-pointers).
—Coltin Reese: nine points (one 3-pointer).

Winterboro’s top performers:

—Brandon Hunter: 16 points (one 3-pointer).
—Jamereo Clegg: 12 points (one 3-pointer).
—Jamonte O’Neal: 11 points (one 3-pointer).

JACKSONVILLE 59, CHEROKEE COUNTY 47: Devin Barksdale scored 21 points as Class 4A second-ranked Jacksonville improved to 15-5 on the season.

Barksdale hit five 3-pointers with four rebounds and two steals.

—Jaquan Ervin: 11 points, three rebounds, four assists, four steals.
—Aaron Nixon: 10 points (one 3-pointer), three rebounds, three steals.  

SAKS 65, WELLBORN 43: Josh Todd led Saks with 16 points, and the Wildcats got a win in Class 3A, Area 11 play.

Saks’ other top performers: 

—Christian Hall: 13 points (two 3-pointers).
—Lajuan Curry: 13 points (four 3-pointers).
—Anthony Bothwell: 10 points.

Wellborn’s top performers:

—Ray Williams: 14 points, four rebounds, two steals.
—Trey Downs: five points, eight rebounds, seven blocks.


PIEDMONT 71, WEAVER 22: Ava Pope sank six 3-pointers on the way to 28 points, and Piedmont scored a Class 3A, Area 11 victory.

—Jenna Duke: 11 points (three 3-pointers).
—Cayla Brothers: 11 points.
—Carson Young: six points (two 3-pointers).

Weaver’s top performers:

—Aaliyah Marks: 13 points.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 49, JACKSONVILLE 44: Jacksonville’s Neveah Nicholson hit three 3-pointers en route to 15 points. She also had six rebounds and two steals.

The Golden Eagles’ other top performers:

—Alexis Phillips: 13 points (four 3-pointers), six rebounds.
—Halaina Lozano: nine points (three 3-pointers), four assists.
