GASTON — Ava Pope hit three 3-pointers on the way to scoring a team-high 22 points, and Piedmont’s girls beat Appalachian 48-32 in Wednesday’s action in the Gaston Christmas Tournament.

Other top performers for Piedmont (6-5):

Cayla Brothers: six points.
Morgan Studdard: six points.

PARKER 45, ANNISTON 41: Anniston suffered its first loss of the season after a 14-0 start. Top performers for the Bulldogs:

Kiara Thomas: 19 points (six 3-pointers).
Tykeria Smith: 10 points.

GLENCOE 43, WHITE PLAINS 39: Alli Amos led Glencoe, hitting one 3-pointer en route to 16 points. Glencoe’s other top performers:

Evelyn Nowak: eight points.

White Plains’ top performers:

Cassidy Arnold: 16 points (one 3-pointer).
Addie Bradley: 10 points.
Cooper Martin: nine points (three 3-pointers).

Boys

APPALACHIAN 68, PIEDMONT 62: Playing in the Gaston Christmas Tournament, Ishmael Bethel hit three 3-pointers en route to 20 points. Other top performers for Piedmont (5-4):

Cole Wilson: 11 points (three 3-pointers).
